Message from the Principal

Dear Families,

Now that the polls are closed and the results of the 2024 election are known, it is time for us all to come together, to look ahead and to focus on our shared goals and the values that unite us as a community.

Civics is a requirement for high school students in Illinois, and for many students, being of high school age is the time when they really begin to become engaged with the civic process. We are here to educate our students and to guide our youth in what it means to be civically engaged. We want to help them practice that through constructive, thoughtful dialogue and by listening to diverse perspectives with respect and empathy. We do this with an explicit focus on our GIANT values.

Thank you for partnering with us to support our students in becoming thoughtful, informed members of our community.

As always, thank you for sharing your students with us this week and beyond,

Holly Fleischer

Fall Sports Updates

  1. Maggie Mariano had a great day at the IHSA Sectional Cross Country Meet.  Maggie ran a PR 18:53.46 and represented the HPHS with class.  She also received Giant support from her teammates who attended.  This brings the Girls Cross Country season to a close for 2024.
  2. Our Boys Cross Country team gave it their all and finished 9th at the Sectional Meet at Busse Woods. Dylan Dominguez ran a great race (14:52.45) and qualified for the IHSA State Finals as an individual.  Congrats to Dylan and the entire Boys Program on a great season.  More to accomplish for Dylan this weekend in Peoria.
  3. Giant pride for our Girls Swim and Dive Program.  The group has continued to persevere and finished 2nd at the Varsity level and 3rd at the JV level at the CSL North Conference Meet at Vernon Hills High School.  The team brought home lots of medals for their efforts.  The program is looking forward to hosting an IHSA Sectional next Saturday at HPHS.  Diving begins at 9:00am and Swimming starts at 1:00pm.  Our best is next!
