Message from the Principal

Dear Giant Family,

The Tuesday before break, we had the joy of welcoming our Grand Giants to our House on Vine. It was a beautiful moment to witness these cherished adults share the day with their senior students, bridging generations in our school community. Again and again, I heard how special this school is—how its relationships, opportunities, facilities, activities, and athletics make it a place where students can thrive.

Many of our Grand Giants once walked these same halls, just as many of our current caregivers did. It’s a unique privilege to grow up here, raise a family here, and work together to help the next generation flourish. At the same time, we are equally enriched by those who have joined our community from other places, bringing perspectives and experiences that help us grow.

This Thanksgiving season, I reflect on the power of these generational connections. Our students are not just individuals—they are the living legacies of their ancestors and the love and care of their families.

Thank you for being part of this incredible community. I hope you had a beautiful Thanksgiving filled with gratitude and connection.

As always, thank you for sharing your students with us this week and beyond,

Holly

ATHLETICS

Congratulations to the Varsity Girls Basketball Team. Our girls went 4-1 at the Mundelein Tournament earning them the 1st place trophy. Last Saturday’s hard fought win versus the host school clinched the title for the Giants. Emily Calub and Kourtnie Halperin were named to the All-Tournament Team. The Giants also got excellent play from Maddie Reitmayer, Miami Martinez and Reese Crosby. What a fantastic start to the winter season for HP Athletics. A Giant shoutout to all the athletes and coaches in the Girls Basketball Program.

The next Giants Club Meeting is Wednesday, 12/11 at 7:00pm in the Giant Conference Room. All are welcome! Speaking of the Giants Club, if you’re looking for some HPHS gear for you and your family members for the holiday season click here to purchase Giants spirit wear and support our parent booster club.

If you can’t be at an athletic event in person, some of our home and away varsity contests are livestreamed. There are three places to look for our events (see below). We wish all of our events could be livestreamed, but are thankful many events can be seen when family members are not able to attend. The Illinois High School Association requires that all postseason contests only be streamed on the NFHS Network.

  2. NFHS Network (subscription required)
