Message from the Principal

Dear Families,

As the days grow longer and the warmth of the sun fills the air, there's a palpable sense of joy and anticipation for the summer ahead! It's wonderful to witness our students embracing this beautiful weather, bringing an extra spark to their daily learning. Even with the understandable end-of-year fatigue, the energizing sunshine has truly given us a boost! From the Physics field trip to Great America to Senior Night for our Athletic Teams, our students are actively participating and making the most of every day.

We are so proud of their continued enthusiasm and commitment, and we know you are too. Let's carry this positive momentum through the final stretch, celebrating their achievements and the joy of learning in these brighter days.

Thank you for sharing your students with us today and beyond,

Holly

ATHLETICS

Athletes from the Central Suburban League came together for a leadership workshop centered on inclusivity at Niles North High School last week and District 113 was well represented. We are proud to be a part of this mission and look forward to seeing our Giant athletes and coaches use what they learned to make a difference at HPHS.

HPHS student-athletes who will be continuing their athletic careers at the collegiate level will be honored at a ceremony on Friday, May 9th at 7:15am in the Exhibition Gym.

Giant Shoutouts:

  1. Senior Emma Sitati broke the school record in the Triple Jump on Monday. Emma jumped 37’1”, breaking Carrie Langford’s record that had stood since 2002. The Girls Track & Field team also had a great meet on Wednesday in Grayslake with multiple athletes bringing home medals.
  2. Varsity Girls Soccer won their first game of the season on Monday. The game was tied at the end of regulation and our Giants earned the victory in penalty kicks.
  3. Boys Varsity Lacrosse had a great week, defeating Northside College Prep on Tuesday and Vernon Hills in double overtime on Thursday. The team made it 3 in a row with their win over Lake Forest Academy this week.
  4. Boys Varsity Volleyball looked great in their home victory over Vernon Hills last Tuesday. They also participated this past weekend at the highly competitive Wheaton Warrenville South Invite.
  5. Boys Gymnastics had a great day at Conant on Thursday. Alex Gudgeon, Hugh Ludington and Chance Ferris crushed it with top 3 finishes in multiple events.
  6. Girls Water Polo traveled to Leyden last week and came home with a 9-6 victory. They also had a big win against Rolling Meadows on Tuesday.
  7. Varsity Girls Softball finished the week strong with wins over GBS on Thursday and Hoffman Estates on Saturday.
  8. Our Boys Track & Field Program hosted Evanston and Loyola on Wednesday. Our 4x400 relay team closed the meet in style with a great effort.
  9. A fantastic 3rd quarter propelled our Varsity Girls Lacrosse team in a competitive game with Vernon Hills on Saturday. The final score was 11-7 in favor of the Giants. The team continued their strong play with a win over Trinity on Monday. Goalie Val Faust and Defender Nora Gladstone have shined as of late.
  10. Jason Newburger recently won his 100th game as our Head Varsity Baseball Coach. Congratulations to Coach Newburger on reaching this milestone.
  11. Boys Water Polo defeated Deerfield 7-6 in an exciting game on Tuesday.
  12. We celebrated senior night in the girls badminton and girls soccer programs this week.

Here is the schedule for upcoming athletic events. We hope to see you in the stands supporting our student-athletes. Go Giants! Vamos Gigantes!
