Message from the Principal

On behalf of the faculty and staff, I would like to wish all of you a very Happy Thanksgiving. We wish you all safe travels and relaxing time with family and friends. We thank God for our many blessings and remember in a special way those in need of prayer during this holiday weekend. Thank you for the gift of your children and for choosing St. Mary Magdalen Catholic School to partner with you in their education. May God continue to bless our school and parish community. We wish you a very blessed Thanksgiving!

Christmas Donations
Christmas Dinner Bags for The Christian Sharing Center 
Help us provide Christmas dinner to 100 families in need! Please send in your grade level items (listed below) and consider donating a $10 grocery store gift card for the purchase of a ham or turkey by December 5th.  We will be filling the bags for the Christian Sharing Center during a special morning of service on December 6th. Watch for more details about the morning as we get closer! 

  • Kindergarten and First Grade – Gravy (2 packs) and boxed Jell-O (2 boxes)
  • Second and Third Grades – Boxed cake mix (2 boxes) and canned frosting (2 cans)
  • Fourth Grade – Boxed stuffing (3 boxes)
  • Fifth Grade – Green beans (3 cans) and canned corn (3 cans)
  • Sixth Grade – Canned fruit (3 cans) and box of tea (1)
  • Seventh Grade – Boxed scalloped or au gratin potatoes (3 boxes)
  • Eighth Grade – Instant coffee or box of tea (2)      
Dolls and Cars for our sister Diocese in the Dominican Republic
Send in dolls that can be dressed up and cars (please do not send Barbie dolls or battery operated toys) by December 10th.

Social Media Parent Seminar
Please join us for our General Home and School Meeting, Thursday, Nov. 29th at 6:30 pm, in the Parish Life Center.  
  • Special guest speaker on internet safety; how to keep our children safe in this world of Social Media
  • Light dinner provided by SLA to enjoy, as you browse the Home and School sub-committee tables  
  • A free student dress pass, for parents who attend this presentation
  • Free babysitting, if needed, please email Home & School to reserve your spot.

Lunch and Recess Volunteer Opportunity
Parents, please take advantage of the beautiful fall weather we’re blessed with in Florida and join us during lunch and recess. We truly appreciate any time you can give us, on any given day. The safety of our students is always our top priority and having enough parent volunteers during recess is necessary. Please click on the link below to volunteer.  

All families are required to volunteer at least 5 hours in the lunchroom or recess. Volunteers should have cleared fingerprints and completed safe environment training. If you have any questions, please contact  Nancy Thomas

Thanksgiving Day Mass
7:00 am and 10:00 am – Thursday, November 22nd
Bring a loaf of bread to the 10:00 am Mass to be blessed!

Thanksgiving Dinner
Your generosity helps us provide a Thanksgiving Day Dinner for those in need. We are asking for turkeys (16 lbs or larger), pies, sides, wine...anything helps. Please drop-off your donation at the Parish Office. If you would like to attend, no ticket is necessary, but an RSVP is helpful. Please call the Parish Office at 407.831.1212.

Emmaus Ministry for Grieving Parents
For parents whose children of any age have died by any cause, no matter how long ago. St. James is hosting an information luncheon on Wednesday, November 28th from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm. They will share information about the upcoming one-day retreat for grieving parents on March 9th at St. James Cathedral. All are welcome; you may invite anyone you think may be interested. Please RSVP to Justin Reyes by Friday, November 16th at or 407.422.2005 ext. 101.
