Dear Families,
  Thank you for all your support as we complete our second week of school. For the most part, we deem it a huge success. Of course, we learned a few things and made a few adjustments. I expect that to be our new normal – learn and adjust, learn and adjust, etc. I am especially grateful for your patience and understanding with arrival and dismissal procedures. Our school matra, “Be Safe, Be Kind and Be Responsible” is being demonstrated in so many ways by all members of our Forest Hills community right now.

Assessment Information

Eden Prairie Schools remains committed to ensuring each student reaches the highest achievement in learning. In order for our teachers and staff to provide each student with high quality learning, it is vital that we administer periodic assessments of a student’s skills, learning, and growth. Teachers use this information to help determine strengths and areas of growth. This information is also used to analyze our instructional effectiveness system wide.
 
This fall, you can expect your student to take the following assessments:
 
·         Grades K-1 - One-to-one assessments in Reading and Math
 
·         Grades 2-6 - Reading and Math Assessments done during in person learning
 
Assessments will begin the week of September 14. We look forward to gathering this additional information about each student to provide the most effective instruction possible.
Parent Information Night Goes Virtual on September 15, 2020

On Friday, September 11, classroom teachers will be sending (in their Friday newsletters) links of their grade level team’s video sharing information about their curriculum, learning resources they use, expectations for Social Emotional Learning, classroom procedures, safety protocols, etc. On Tuesday, each classroom teacher will host a 30 minute Zoom meeting at the grade level designated time for parents to join to ask questions or gain clarification about their child’s learning experience for this year. Information about the Zoom meeting will be sent by your child(ren)’s teacher. 

The Parent Information Zoom meeting schedule is as follows: 
Kindergarten: 4:30 p.m.
Grade 1: 5:00 p.m. 
Grade 2: 5:30 p.m.
Grade 3: 6:00 p.m. 
Grade 4: 6:30 p.m.
Grade 5: 7:00 p.m. 
Grade 6: 7:30 p.m. 
Coffee With the Principal
Connie Hytjan will be hosting a Virtual 'Coffee With the Principal' on Friday, September 25, 2020 at 9:30 a.m. All families are welcome to attend. Mrs. Hytjan will provide an update about our school and answer questions you may have.

PTO Fundraiser
We all need them, now we can buy comfortable masks that fit well and show our school spirit at that same time! 10% of sales will go right back to Forest Hills! Your order will be shipped to your home, and plain black masks are available as well. But hurry, sale ends Sunday night!
