A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Families…

While it is only October, the sudden arrival of snow reminds us that winter is just around the corner. Please make sure your children are dressed properly for the unpredictable weather that occurs this time of the year as recess and outdoor activities are an important part of our school routine.

Thank you for joining us for October Conferences. It is so important that we have time to celebrate your child(ren)’s success, set learning goals for the year, and partner together to ensure a successful school year. We continue to be grateful for your support, your involvement, and your help as we navigate this very interesting school year. While we know that the hybrid model is not ideal for every student, we are so happy that each student has the opportunity to have an in-person school experience this Fall.

Always know that I am here to answer your questions, provide you support, and offer you guidance.

Most Sincerely,

Connie Hytjan
Connect and Be Kind!
Please take a moment to view our Unity Day Virtual Assembly video! Our theme this year is 'Connect and Be Kind'. Students are being encouraged throughout the year to connect with each other and spread kindness at our school.

Anti-Bullying Resources

The Upstanders | A film about resilience and the power of connection
Watch a live film event, The Upstanders, hosted by PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center. Join us Monday, October 26 @ 7:00pm ET for a live screening and panel of The Upstanders documentary, a film-based education program about resilience, attention, and the power of connection to end bullying. The film explores cyberbullying, bullying among friends, families, and co-workers, and the brain science behind it all. We will be showing the film, which will be promptly followed by a panel discussion.

Webinar: Cyberbullying Prevention
Designed for parents, professionals, and youth, this webinar shows that we all have an important role to play in addressing and preventing cyberbullying. Hosted by the Tourette Association of America on Tuesday, October 27 @ 7:00pm ET.
Inclement Weather Arrived Early
Winter made an early appearance this year! Remember to make sure your students are dressed appropriately each day as they will go outside for recess. Take the time to label ALL your child's belongings as items are continually being misplaced or lost. Students will be able to access lockers to store winter gear however all items must go home nightly.
Fall Celebrations
While in any normal year, we would be thinking about how we would gather later this month to celebrate this time of harvest and season change, we know it can’t be or look the same this year!! This year is different - no shared food or supplies, no family helpers, no game stations, no classroom community gatherings, etc. So, instead of framing it as ‘what we can’t do’, our teachers are framing it as ‘how we might re-design a celebration in a way that we can do’? Each grade level is discussing and planning celebrations that will be purposeful, focused on learning, and organized to celebrate the success and sense of community that has been established during this time of COVID-19. Grade level teams will be communicating their plans with their students' families.
Winter Gear Needed
Please consider donating new or gently used (clean) hats, mittens or gloves for children in all sizes. Items can be dropped off at the Forest Hill’s front office or sent to school with your child. Thanks in advance for helping our students stay warm on the playground!
