Week 8 - Second Semester
Sunday, February 27, 2022
Hello FUHS Families!

We have had an exciting week at FUHS! The activities continue to keep us hyped up! We've had exciting wins across all sports teams. We're not done with Basketball as we move on to State Championships. We're gearing up for a great musical next week with our talented students and our dancers will participate in the FJUHSD Dance Festival this Friday night! All around spirit is up which is really helpful as we continue as a society to have challenges all around us. We hope that for our students school can be a place where they can enjoy their time and still be kids.

Boys Basketball
Boys Basketball had two big games this week playing in the CIF Div. 4AA Semi-Finals & Finals games. The TRIBE beat Artesia in the Semi-Final game winning 58-56. In the final, the boys fought with all their heart but fell just short of a victory losing to Garden Grove in a tight match 54-50. From beginning to end it was a close game. Now the team moves into State Championship play with a game on Tuesday to be announced Sunday evening. We’ll see you wherever this game is played. GO TRIBE!
Wrestling
This week FUHS and Coach Fregoso sent Levi Banuelos to the CIF State Wrestling Championships in Bakersfield. this was the first time that an FUHS wrestler has made it to the Masters in 11 years! Unfortunately, Levi lost his matches but represented the TRIBE well. Thank you to Coach Fregoso and all of our wrestlers for giving us such an exciting season. We look forward to next season. GO TRIBE!
Baseball continued tournament play this week and ended the week with a big win over West Ranch 4-1. The boys head into league play this week and we’re all excited to see the boys take the field. Coach Hill is doing a great job and guiding the boys to be great.

Softball: FUHS Softball had two games this week beating both Anaheim and Brea. The team is now 7-1 under first year coach, Trevor Holton. Coach Holton has changed the culture and expectations of the team since the first day he took the field and he hasn’t slowed down. In addition, Coach Holton has transformed our softball facility to look better than it ever has before. Thank you coach and keep up the great work.

Boys Volleyball: The boys started out the season with a loss to Saddleback on Tuesday, but came back strong against Brea HS with a 3-0 victory. Great job boys!

Track: Our boys and girls track team had a meet scheduled with Anaheim on Wednesday, but rain canceled the meet. Our next meet will be at home on March 10th. The Rotary Club Tri-City meet will be held at FUHS on March 12th.

Swim: This week our swim team will be heading to El Dorado on Tuesday for a 3:15 meet. Good luck to all swimmers.

Golf: Our Boys Golf team is preparing for their season which will begin March 15th against Santa Fe High School. Our new driving range tunnels have been a great help for our athletes to improve their game. Thank you to the FUHS Administration for investing in our Golf Team. GO TRIBE!

Boys Tennis: Boys Tennis had a great week winning matches against El Modena and Kennedy. Coach Inthavong and Hess are doing a great job with the boys and the entire program.

Fullerton College Information
FCC wanted to share some important flyers with upcoming events for our seniors who are planning to attend FC in Fall 2022.

Future Hornet Academy Wednesdays is a virtual set of workshops aimed to provide information on various Programs and Services on campus. Students do not need to attend all, but only the ones that interest them. The second page has program descriptions for all that are presenting. This event takes place on Wednesdays from 4:00-6:00pm in the months of March and the first half of April.

Virtual Counseling Sessions is an event to helps students meet with an FC counselor to receive their Educational Plan for the Fall 2022 semester. We will also have Financial Aid, along with Programs and Services on campus. This event happens in two hour blocks from April through Mid-June on Tues-Thurs in the afternoon and evenings. The student only needs to attend one session. If a student has completed COUN 140, they do NOT need to attend this event because they already have an Educational Plan.

Future Hornet Saturdays is an event in-person with virtual options that is a “one stop shop” for students to finish their matriculation steps, ask questions, and hear from Programs and Services on our campus. These take place on the first and third Saturdays of the month from 9:00am-12:00pm. Students do not need to stay the whole time. RSVPs are required as space is limited.
