AP Human Geography Field Trip
The AP Human Geography students took a field trip to Downtown Los Angeles to explore urban geography. The day began at The Old Spaghetti Factory (Fullerton's first train station) and then with a ride on the MetroLink train to Union Station. Next the students explored Olvera Street and the Avila Adobe, with a look at the La Placita mission church, Little Italy, Chinatown, Angels Flight, the Grand Central Market, the Bradbury Building, and Little Tokyo before riding back to Fullerton on the MetroLink train. Lots of walking paid off with a real-life application of the geography that students have learned this year. A big THANK YOU! to our chaperones and to the American Geographic Society for a grant to pay for the trip.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. As we head into finals and other exams, we hope you as both staff and students remember to take care of yourself and your well-being. We will be celebrating and honoring mental health awareness month with a weekly theme. Remember, there is support for you on campus - we have two Mental Health Specialists every day of the week in room 124, Mr. David Saldana and Ms. Staci Balliet. Take a deep breath, you got this, you can do hard things! | |

Softball - Still in it!!
Softball has continued to keep winning and after beating Long Beach Poly they went on to the CIF Div. 4 Semi-Finals played at FUHS this Saturday against Burroughs HS! The ladies won 8-1 over the Burbank team, scoring five of those runs in the 4th inning. It was a great game and now we're moving on to the championship game vs. Foothill HS next Saturday! Stay tuned for time and location!
Click on the news article below from the OC Register, highlighting our game vs. Long Beach Poly! Still Going! Go Ladies! Go Tribe!

Baseball
Last week Baseball earned a win in CIF Div. 2 Playoffs vs. Fountain Valley. Unfortunately, the we fell short in the second round losing to a tough Gahr team. We are proud of how are boys have played all year and brought home another Freeway League title. Great Job Boys! It was a great season!

Track and Field
The girls and boys wrapped up their track season at the CIF Division 2 Prelims at Ventura High School this past Saturday. On the girls side, Layla Thornton competed well in the discus and had an off day in the shot put while Martiyanna Stiger threw near her personal best in the shot put. Morgan McAndrew gained more CIF experience with her 400m & 800m race, school record holder Haley Won ended her career with her 2nd CIF trip in the triple jump, and freshman Melina Sibal (100m & 200m) made it known that she will be back in the following years, capping off one of the best female newcomer seasons in Fullerton history. The girls will be back next with the goal of pushing more than one athlete on to the CIF Championships!
On the boys side, Dorian Yepez climbed a few spots on the starting list to finish 11th overall in the 110 hurdles and 10th overall in the 300 hurdles. His 300 hurdle time was .04 seconds off of the last qualifying spot! We are happy at the prospect of Dorian competing next year for Cal State Fullerton with his breakout season! Dorian finishes his Fullerton track & field on both hurdles all time lists. Our other male competitors included junior Alejandro Hernandez who ran 9:58 for 3200m for his first sub 10 minute performance of his career! Alejandro found himself among a slew of top ranked 2 milers and went out faster than he ever had. The gamble paid off after coming through the mile in 4:51 and hanging on to sneak under an elusive barrier which gave Fullerton two distance runners under 10 for 2 miles in one season (Nathan Limon - 9:58 earlier this season) for the first time in ½ a century. Lastly, our sophomore duo Ryan Leitner (400m) and Jack Golla (1600m & 800m) gained valuable experience and know what to expect when they return as juniors and seniors. It is an accomplishment to qualify for the CIF Prelims meet and these two did it as sophomores! Congrats to both our boys & girls on a successful record breaking season!

Boys Tennis
Tennis finished the season in the Qtr. Finals of the CIF Div. 4 Playoffs. The boys came within 2 matches of moving onto the semi-finals but fell just a little short. Boys fought for the very last point and took the other team to two Tie-Breakers to decide the outcome. Very exciting for our young team. Great Job Boys!

Boys Golf
Last Tuesday we had league finals, which was a two-day event. Eighteen advanced to the second round, and then the top seven advanced to CIF qualifier at Bear Creek GC in Temecula. Each school in our league brings six players to compete for the top spot. We had four of our players qualify for the second round, senior Jack McMackin, junior Sangat Grewal, sophomore Jack Arnold and freshman Pascal Duffus.
Second round was played at Los Serranos GC. Jack McMackin and Jack Arnold barely missed the cut, finishing 9th and 10th. Sangat Grewal came in second. Sangat Grewal played the CIF round 1 at Bear Creek on May 8th. This is the second year the school has been represented by Sangat Grewal at the CIF qualifier, which is a huge win! This season was a success, as we have never had this many players advance to the top 18. We finished 3rd in League, and this past week we celebrated the success of our season with our annual Golf Banquet. Special thanks to all the players who gave it their all this season, and to the parents who supported them.
