Boys Volleyball
This week, the boys had a great week leading up to league next week. Started off the week at Volleyball powerhouse (D-2). It was an intense match, where Canyon won the 1st set 25-18. After that set, the boys finally believed that they could compete. The 2nd set went overtime with Canyon winning 36-34 to lead the match 2-0. The boys continued to gain confidence and momentum. Our boys took the 3rd and 4th set 26-24, 25-22, forcing a 5th set. The boys eventually lost, but gained a lot of respect from Canyon coaches and players. On Wednesday, we played La Serna, led by their newly hired coach, our very own, Coach Miguel Galindo. Our boys won 3-1. On Thursday, unfortunately, our starting setter Hyunmin had to sit out with an injury, which changed the dynamic of the lineup with players moved around. The boys gave a valiant effort, but eventually lost 1-3 to Kennedy. The boys ended the preseason with a 9-4 record. Next up, at Troy on Tuesday.

Tennis
On Thursday, Fullerton and La Serna battled to a 9-9 tie and had to resort to game count to determine the winner. Fullerton barely edged out La Serna with a game count of 76-71. FUHS ended the pre-season undefeated, 5-0.
Top singles players, Tim Chun and Ben Villalobos won all their matches played. Singles player Diego Gomez went 2 of 3 sets but showed some guts and maturity and growth in his game, having the pressure at the end of the match, knowing that the team was down 8-9, Diego gutted out the last match of the day, winning 6-4, giving the team the win.
The only point from the doubles teams came from Jack Spraque and Caleb Park. The rest of the doubles teams had a rough day, winning only 1 out of 9 sets played. Although the doubles teams could not come up with more wins, they did enough scoring games within the sets, allowing the team to win at the end with the game counts.
Next week starts league play, beginning with Troy and Sunny Hills.
