Week 5 - Second Semester
Friday, February 4, 2022
Happy Friday FUHS Families!

We are starting to get into the winding down phase of the school year but really we are ramping up with planning end of year activities and even getting ready for next year! Our counselors will begin registering students for next year in a couple of weeks! Next Thursday, we will have an extended break so that our students can Program Shop for next year! Our sports teams and programs will be out at break ready to recruit! If your students are not part of a program or sport yet, make sure they pick up information and be ready to register when their counselor meets with them.

This week we are closing our First Quarter Progress Reports. Make sure you sign in to Aeries Portal to help us monitor your student's grades. The Progress Report Grades will be available to parents by next Thursday. This semester will go by fast, please help your student stay on top of it.

District's are required to develop a Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) that aligns with their annual budget in collaboration with all stakeholders. The LCAP is aligned with the District's budget and will guide the district's spending related to the state and local board priorities. Please click on the flier below to begin taking the survey. We have until Tuesday, February 15th. A similar survey will be sent to students and staff.

Taking an Honors Class?
Dear Parents of Honors, Pre-IB and AP students,

You are invited to a Parents’ Information Meeting on Thursday February 17 th at 6:30 PM in the Fullerton High staff cafeteria. I will have information for you regarding the AP and IB programs. Your student will soon be registering. It is important that parents and students make informed registration decisions and get their questions answered. Because of the pandemic masks must be always worn in any school building. Masks will be required during this meeting.

If there are any questions, students can come to my classroom at break, lunch, and after school. Parents can reach me at 1-714-626-3994 (Mark Henderson). I am looking forward to seeing you.

Athletics Review Jan. 31 to Feb. 4

Boys Basketball: Boys Basketball won a great game over Sunny Hills on Sunday, but unfortunately lost to Sunny Hills in the season finale on Thursday night.  Nonetheless our Boys team places 3rd in league and is an automatic qualifier for the first time since 2008.  Playoff brackets will be released on February 8th and the TRIBE will learn where we will be playing.  Watch for social media updates to learn location and time of the game.

Girls Basketball:  Girls Varsity Basketball played hard this week against Troy and Sunny Hills, but fell short of their goal.  The girls stayed committed and determined all year and made great steps in improving the program.  The girls demonstrated true Fullerton spirit by giving it their all and never backing down to the competition.  We look forward to the off season and anticipate the girls coming back stronger next year.

Girls Soccer:  Girls Varsity soccer played against Troy and Sunny Hills this week losing both games.  The girls showed great Fullerton spirit in continuing to fight for the TRIBE and never gave up.  The girls will head into the off season working with Athletes in Motion to prepare themselves for next season which will see improvements beyond what they’ve already achieved.  Great effort girls.

Girls Water Polo:  Girls Varsity Water Polo came out of carousel play in third place in league and are now headed to the playoffs.  Matchings come out on Monday, so keep an eye on our social media for times and locations of games.  GO TRIBE!

Wrestling:  Wrestling went into the playoffs last week, but unfortunately lost in the first round.  Today our wrestlers are at League Finals fighting for individual league Championships.  The Boys Varsity team won the Fullerton City Championship by defeating Troy and Sunny Hills.  In addition, the Boys Varsity team took second place in league by defeating La Habra in a tough match between some great wrestlers.  Congratulations to Coach Fregoso in only his second year as Head Coach of our wrestling program.  GO TRIBE!

Boys Soccer:  Boys Varsity Soccer had two great games this week and secured the League Championship for the second year in a row.  This senior class has won the league title during their Freshman, Sophomore, Junior and Senior years.  League Game #9: is a win over Troy 6-0.  JV complements the night within an earlier 6-0 win. For Varsity League Game #10 is a win over Sunny Hills 3-0 as well.  It was Senior day at home vs Sunny Hills, who beat us last time 2-1. The defense gets its 11th shutout and 7th in League and the team gets the second League Championship in two years. JV puts icing on the cake by getting a 1-0 WIN.  Playoff matchings are released on Tuesday so keep your eyes on social media for location and time for game.  GO TRIBE!
Thank you OC Register for the shout out to our Div. 1 Boys Soccer

COVID Protocols
To view more information, you may go to the district website.

We still have take-home COVID test kits for students to pick up. There will be information about more pick-up times for students next week. Please make sure to check your emails or you may stop by the Attendance Office windows to pick yours up.
If you have received a COVID 19 test, do not attend school until you receive the results of that test and then only if you are negative for COVID 19. Additionally, if you have been exposed to a person who has recently tested positive for COVID-19 please stay home and contact the school attendance office.

In accordance with the Center for Disease Control (CDC), CA Dept. of Public Health (CDPH), and Orange County Health Care Agency (OCHCA), we ask that you complete the Qualtrics survey each morning prior to arriving on campus. However, please do not attend school if you have experienced any COVID-related symptoms:
  • Flu-like symptoms such as fever of 100.4 or greater
  • Chills
  • Cough
  • Sore throat
  • Runny or stuffy nose that is not associated with a pre-existing condition or other chronic health condition.

If you have received a COVID 19 test, do not attend school until you receive the results of that test and then only if you are negative for COVID 19.

Further, following the recommendations issued by the CDC, the CDPH has issued guidance in support of full in-person instruction and to as much instructional time as possible. A link to that guidance is included at the bottom of this communication.

Please note that masks will be required by all staff and students while indoors regardless of vaccinated status. As an extra precaution, FJUHSD is committed to continuing the enhanced cleaning procedures established to ensure that our schools are clean, sanitized, and safe. Further, temperatures will continue to be taken each morning.
Safety Procedures attending school during the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • All students and staff will complete a Qualtrics COVID Safety Survey each morning (the survey is sent to Student's school email).
  • Face coverings (masks) are required inside and are optional while outside. Please ensure that your students bring a mask everyday.
