Josiah Jessup & Jad Mustafa are averaging a double double for the Tribe in both games this week. They play Newport Harbor, the #11 ranked team in Orange County on Friday 12/1 at 6:30pm at Loara High School.

JV is playing in the Santa Ana tournament and is currently 1-2 this week. The freshman team is playing in the La Habra tournament and is 1-1 and our F/S team is playing at Segerstrom and is 0-3 this week.

All players, families, and fans are welcome to join our program next Thursday night 12/7 after the home game against Western for our program night out at The Bowery. Come and hang out for some good pizza and support one of our sponsors.

Girls Basketball

Girls basketball finished last week beating La Mirada 54-38 to win the Vernie Ford Classic. That capped off a 4-0 week and put them at 6-1 to start the year. Varsity had no games this week, however JV will be playing in Westminster's Wild West Tournament this weekend. Additionally, the first CIF rankings came out this week and had Fullerton ranked #1 in division 5AA. They will look to defend their top spot next week as they will play in four games, including 3 at home. They play La Puente at home Monday at 5:30, Workman on the road Tuesday, and will capp of the week hosting Loara on Friday night at 6:30 and Mission Viejo at noon Saturday.

Boys Soccer

Boys soccer kicked off its season on Saturday with boys Frosh/Soph & JV playing in the Sonora JV tournament. JV started by beating Troy 4-0 and gained enough points to be in the championship bracket. Frosh/Soph struggled against JV teams but gained a ton of experience.

Monday we played Anaheim F/S tied 1-1 and JV won 2-0. Varsity got its first win 2-1. FHS goals were both scored by Aiden Bengard with Nathan Burhler assisting on the first goal. Wednesday was a different story we played Valencia getting our first loss 4-2. They were big and fast and challenged our defense. Both Abdukarim Umar and Abraham Benavides scored outstanding goals while Luis Cervantes assisted. We are looking forward to Friday hosting Woodbridge at home.

Girls Soccer

Girls Soccer had a packed couple of weeks. Facing some heavy competition, the Tribe has faced off against Pacifica, Brea Olinda, and Yorba Linda.. all programs that won their 2022 League. Thursday night brought El Rancho High School to Fullerton District Stadium. Junior Varsity started the matches off strong with a 1-0 win. Olivia Yturriaga with a banger from outside the 18-yard box. Great Work JV! Varsity faced off against the 2022 CIF D4 semi-finalists, an goal in the 2nd half put El Rancho up 1-0, shortly after Fullerton Union answered with a goal by Sophomore Marley Keller. With less than two minutes left. El Rancho scores off a corner, 2-1 El Rancho. A spectacular match showing Fullerton is trending upwards going into the Freeway League. Coach Maisterra is optimistic. “These are top programs and we are competing, I’m happy with the level we are gravitating to.” The Tribe transitions into the weekend playing Best in the West. JV is at Buena Park HS playing Mayfair, and Montebello. Varsity at Fullerton District Stadium battling Magnolia and Hoover / Glendale. GoTribe!

Wrestling

This past weekend, our wrestling teams had two tournaments. The girls varsity tournament was held at Santa Ana High School, and the boys varsity tournament was held at Mater Dei High School. Our girls' varsity team had a great showing at the Santa Ana tournament. Chloe Ortiz placed 5th in her weight class going 4-1, and Levi Burrell placed 3rd in her weight class. Both wrestlers fought hard and showed great technique.

Our boys varsity team also had a strong showing at the Mater Dei tournament. DJ Cobbs placed 2nd in his weight class, Julian Rodela placed 4th in his weight class, Emilio Castaneda placed 4th in his weight class, Christian Godinez placed 4th in his weight class, and Juan Ramirez placed 4th in his weight class. DJ Cobbs was the most outstanding wrestler for the boys, going 4-1 with 4 pins.

Levi Burrell was the most outstanding wrestler for the girls, going 4-1 with 3 pins. We are very excited about the future of our wrestling program. We have a lot of talented wrestlers who are working hard to improve and they are showing it.

In Freeway League our Boys and Girls Varsity teams are 2-0 and our Boys JV team is 1-1. With the Varsity Boys and Girls being 2-0, they both are CITY CHAMPS in Wrestling! GO, TRIBE!

Girls Water Polo

Girls Water polo packed in a lot of Games this week. Starting off with the Troy highschool tournament we went 1 and 3. Losing close games to California, Roosevelt and San Juan Hills but taking the win against Norco High School 8-3.
