Dear FUHS Families,

I hope that you have had a great week! We are moving along to the second half of the quarter and our students are getting ready for Homecoming in a few weeks! We had a great showing at College Night on Monday and many of our sports teams have begun league play! Go Tribe!

Our students are still trying to settle into life on campus. We had almost two years of a lot of flexibility, a lack of routine and some of our students are struggling a bit with the rules and structures of high school life. Please remind our students that we are here to support them. Teachers are doing their best to include the development of skills and in many ways teaching the basics of how to be a good student. It takes a village to educate our kids. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to your student's teachers, counselors, or our administration.

Student Attestation

Students should have received an email from the Fullerton Joint Union High School District using our Qualtrics Survey system asking about their vaccination status. So you are aware, we are asking for this information should we have to contact trace for a positive COVID-19

exposure. Remember, the protocols for a close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID are different when a student is vaccinated vs. unvaccinated. If quarantining is necessary the amount of days varies if your student is vaccinated or not. Getting the COVID-19 vaccine is voluntary for our students, for this inquiry, we are asking your student to voluntarily answer the question if they have been “fully vaccinated” or not. If they have not yet filled out this specific survey on their vaccination status, please have them search their school email for the Qualtrics Attestation Survey.

COVID Entrance Procedures

Safety Procedures attending school during the COVID-19 pandemic.

All students and staff will complete a Qualtrics COVID Safety Survey each morning (the survey is sent to Student's school email).
Students will be directed to the central building breezeway as they enter campus where they will show their green checkmark from the completed survey permitting them to be on campus.
Students will walk through the thermal-imaging temperature cameras in the breezeway as they show their green Qualtrics survey checkmarks.
Face coverings (masks) are required inside and are optional while outside. Please ensure that your students bring a mask everyday.

If you have received a COVID 19 test, do not attend school until you receive the results of that test and then only if you are negative for COVID 19. Additionally, if you have been exposed to a person who has recently tested positive for COVID-19 please stay home and contact the school attendance office.

In accordance with the Center for Disease Control (CDC), CA Dept. of Public Health (CDPH), and Orange County Health Care Agency (OCHCA), we ask that you complete the Qualtrics survey each morning prior to arriving on campus. However, please do not attend school if you have experienced any COVID-related symptoms:

Flu-like symptoms such as fever of 100.4 or greater
Chills
Cough
Sore throat
Runny or stuffy nose that is not associated with a pre-existing condition or other chronic health condition.

If you have received a COVID 19 test, do not attend school until you receive the results of that test and then only if you are negative for COVID 19.

Further, following the recommendations issued by the CDC, the CDPH has issued guidance in support of full in-person instruction and to as much instructional time as possible. A link to that guidance is included at the bottom of this communication.

Please note that masks will be required by all staff and students while indoors regardless of vaccinated status. As an extra precaution, FJUHSD is committed to continuing the enhanced cleaning procedures established to ensure that our schools are clean, sanitized, and safe. Further, temperatures will continue to be taken each morning.

Thank you to Troy High School for hosting this year's College Fair. It was great to be able to have our students visit with many college and university representatives! Thank you to our counselors and our guidance tech who helped organize this event.

KM Legacy is an organization that is near and dear to our hearts here at FUHS! They have given a lot to our students in leadership scholarships. The KM Legacy Foundation was created to promote kindness. All funds donated here are used to support student leadership & brain cancer research/awareness. Please consider donating or joining in on the fun walk!

The Kindness Matters Walk will be held in-person in Fullerton, CA on Thanksgiving morning and virtually wherever you are for 2021!

How does the virtual walk work?

Starting on 11/12/2021 through 11/25/2021, you can run, walk, roller-blade, kayak, or even push a stroller on your own 5K. It’s your choice! We will be streaming a live event complete with giveaways, contests, speakers, and more on 11/25/2021 at 8:00 am PST. Post pictures of you/your group as you do your activity, and post to Facebook and Instagram with the hashtag "#KMWalk2021" - we would love to see you!

Registration is simple - just click the link in our bio to start your registration process. Register yourself or others in your family/group - and please create or join an existing team if you'd like. Registration is $10 per person. Each participant will have the option during the registration process to select an "add-on" - to include a walk shirt and/or goody bag (this is optional, but you'll want to make sure you get a 2021 KM Walk shirt and/or goody bag). The add-on options will only be available until: 10/31/2021 for walk shirts; and 11/19/2021 for goody bag.

Athletics

This was a good week for Fullerton Athletics!

Girls tennis is rocking it! They remain undefeated with the latest win over La Habra High School 18-0!! Congratulations Ladies!

Our Boys Water Polo also had a huge win over Sonora High School this week, winning the game 21-12! Great job boys!

Volleyball is doing great! Started the week with a sweep of Buena Park HS. All three levels won their sets! It was a tough loss against Troy HS Thursday 3-2, but our girls are tough and resilient! You've got this ladies!

Girls golf won on forfeit this week, so we are hoping for good matches against Troy and Sunny Hills next week.

Our boys cross country team finished 12th at the Woodbridge invitational. Looking forward to some great races for both boys and girls this weekend at the Sunny Hills Invitational.

Football has a 'bye' week tonight but we will start off strong with our first league game next Friday vs. Sonora High School @LH Stadium! Rest up boys! See you next week!
