Culinary and Hospitality Academy
We definitely are getting use to winning at FUHS! Our Culinary and Hospitality Academy has also been busy competing!
2022 CA ProStart Management Cup Competition
It's not all about cooking!

Participating teams will demonstrate their knowledge of the restaurant and food service industry by developing a new restaurant concept, presenting a business proposal for potential investors through a PowerPoint presentation, immediately followed by a Q+A with judges. The business proposal will consist of a defined restaurant concept, supporting menu, and supporting marketing plan. The teams will also submit a written proposal for review and will present their concepts to various groups of judges through verbal presentations. Their performance during the event will be observed and rated by judges from the foodservice industry and colleges and universities. Participating teams demonstrated their ability to work together while developing their business proposal.

On March 7th & 8th Restaurant 1 students competed at the California ProStart Cup Challenge that was held at the Long Beach Convention Ctr. Students competed in two events `` Management Cup '' & a solo cooking competition “Wienerschnitzel’s Dress Your Dog". The team presented in front of fifteen judges. Followed by a Q+A with judges. Our students took 2nd place in management & 3rd place in a solo cooking competition! This was the first time for FUHS Culinary competing at the ProStart Cup and already we were successful. The winner of ProStart goes on to represent CA at the national competition. Congratulations Team!!!

Athletics Review March 7th - 11th
Baseball: On Wednesday, the boys played against Buena Park High School. Fullerton's ace Sebastian Fany was on the bump for Fullerton. In the bottom of the 2nd inning, Junior George Papadatos drives a double into the left center gap to lead off the inning. Junior Conor Sunderland moves the runner to 3rd on a fielder's choice, Senior Andrew Violet hits a hard ground ball down the 3rd baseline for a double scoring Papadatos, Fullerton 1 to 0 for the lead.  In the bottom of the 4th inning, Sunderland walks and takes 2nd on a pitcher's balk, Violet comes up to the plate and takes the pitch to deep CF over the wall for a HR, Fullerton now leads 3 to 0. In the bottom of the 5th, Freshmen Zach Fany pinch hitting takes a walk and Junior Nate Norman blasts a HR over the LF fence hitting the roof top of the chicken coop, Fullerton is up 5 to 0.  Pitcher Fany goes the distance for his 2nd shutout CG for the Freeway League.

Softball: Softball had another great week pulling out two wins over Rancho Alamitos (18-4) and Santiago (14-4). The girls continue play this weekend in the Katella Tournament against Valencia and Godinez. Keet hitting girls!

Boys Volleyball: Boys Volleyball played two games this week against Katella and Samueli Academy. Although the boys lost both matches, they are continuing to work hard and sharpen their skills.

Track: FUHS held its first track meet of the season and did quite well in the opener against La Mirada and Santa Fe High Schools. FUHS Boys Varsity, Girls JV, and Boys JV teams all came through with a victory for the TRIBE. Girls Varsity missed pulling out a win by just 3 points. All our athletes performed their best and gave a great effort for the TRIBE. Next event is this Saturday here at FUHS for the 31st Rotary Club Jim Thompson Track and Field City Championship between Fullerton Union, Sunny Hills and Troy High School. The event is free to all spectators and starts at 9am. GO TRIBE!

Swim: Swim is under way with two more meets this week against Claremont, Oxford Academy, and Segerstrom. The Girls Varsity team took wins over Claremont and Segerstrom. Eight of our swimmers have already qualified for CIF: Lilly Guevara, Reagan Glidewell, Elizabeth Timmerman, Chelsea Yun, Cole Chang, Landon Cassaday, Ryan Verity and Christian Lawson. Now we swim into league against Sonora at the Buena Park pool on Wednesday. Best of luck to all swimmers and divers. GO TRIBE! One last note, congratulations to our coach David Bock on his engagement to his girlfriend now fiance Courtney! Best wishes to you both and may you have many happy years together.

Golf: Boys Golf will tee off next week against Santa Fe twice this week. The boys have been working out and practicing their strokes with Coach Marquez working to bring down the scores. Best of luck to all our golfers.

Boys Tennis: Boys Tennis keeps on winning and this week beat Magnolia 12-6. The boys start league play next week at Sonora on Tuesdays and home vs La Habra on Thursday.

Fullerton College Information
FCC wanted to share some important flyers with upcoming events for our seniors who are planning to attend FC in Fall 2022.

Future Hornet Academy Wednesdays is a virtual set of workshops aimed to provide information on various Programs and Services on campus. Students do not need to attend all, but only the ones that interest them. The second page has program descriptions for all that are presenting. This event takes place on Wednesdays from 4:00-6:00pm in the months of March and the first half of April.

Virtual Counseling Sessions is an event to helps students meet with an FC counselor to receive their Educational Plan for the Fall 2022 semester. We will also have Financial Aid, along with Programs and Services on campus. This event happens in two hour blocks from April through Mid-June on Tues-Thurs in the afternoon and evenings. The student only needs to attend one session. If a student has completed COUN 140, they do NOT need to attend this event because they already have an Educational Plan.

Future Hornet Saturdays is an event in-person with virtual options that is a “one stop shop” for students to finish their matriculation steps, ask questions, and hear from Programs and Services on our campus. These take place on the first and third Saturdays of the month from 9:00am-12:00pm. Students do not need to stay the whole time. RSVPs are required as space is limited.
