We Are The Heart of Fullerton! ❤️ | |
Good Evening Fullerton Families,
We had an amazing first week! The first day was full of excitement and we are ending the week with an assembly this morning and the Highlight Dance Saturday Night! We are anticipating some late-night rain so we have moved it from outdoors to our Gym! See you there!
Speaking of rain...As we have heard we are anticipating Hurricane Hillary to hit our region beginning Sunday. At this point, we are continuing to monitor the weather. We are beginning to take precautions on the school site in order to be ready for the unprecedented August storm. We are also anticipating more traffic Monday morning due to the rain, so please plan accordingly. The safety of our staff and students is our top priority. We encourage you to stay connected with us through our official communication channels, including our mass notification system, ParentSquare, our social media platforms (Instagram and Facebook), and our School and District websites, for the latest updates and information.
I hope you have a restful weekend!
Laura Rubio, Ed.D.

FUHS MLB Legends
Our athletic programs have been making history for almost 130 years! The latest alumni to make history is Baseball Player, Michael Lorenzen who pitched a No-Hitter for the Phillies last week! So proud of all he is doing! He is one of four FUHS MLB players with a total of five FUHS pitchers that made it to the MLB! As a footnote, Michael was voted into the FUHS Wall of Fame last year! Congratulations Michael!

Cheer and Song:
JV Cheer, Varsity Cheer, and Varsity Song attended USA Camp at Great Wolf Lodge over the summer and had great success! All teams brought a home routine for the first time. All teams received spirit sticks. JV Cheer earned the Hardest Working award. Varsity Cheer and Varsity Song each received Superior Plaques for their overall work during camp. Each squad also received a combination of ribbons in Excellence and Superior! Varsity Cheer and Song closed out the camp evaluations as the last school performing and earning a Superior! We had 5 athletes receiving All-American ribbons with an invite to perform in London! Our All-American athletes for Cheer are Brooke Tomsons, Emily Simon, and Kaitlyn Kim. Football:
This week the football team takes on San Dimas H.S. in the first game of the season. The Freshmen team fought back and ended the game with a 13-13 tie. The JV team played a tough game and was very competitive in their match. San Dimas pulled away in the 4th quarter and the JV lost 28-12. Tonight our varsity team takes the field and we are hoping for an exciting outcome. DeShawn Cobbs leads the TRIBE onto the field and we are looking forward to DeShawn being a leading rusher in Orange County again this year.

Cross Country:
The boys & girls will host a scrimmage meet on Saturday, August 19th against Cerritos and Santa Fe High School. The course will be 3 loops around the campus and includes the track. The team is coming off a big summer of miles which included a 6 day trip to Big Bear. Senior Alejandro Hernandez and Jack Golla have logged well over 600 miles so far since the end of May while Sofia Tabbal is on her way to 500 miles for the summer. The team has welcomed many new talented runners who have logged over 200 miles for the summer. Tomorrow, there will be one girls race at 8:00am and one boys race at 8:35am.

Tennis:
The Girls' Tennis Team has been working hard to prepare for the upcoming season. We have a solid core of returning players, including Abigail Kelly (#1 single) and Christina Sfatcu/Rebecca Balarie (#1 doubles). The Girls' Varsity Tennis will have their first match of the season next Thursday against La Quinta High School at home.
Volleyball:
The girls are off to a great start this season. Coming into the season opener on Monday against St. Anthony, we are dealing with some major setbacks including injuries to a couple of key players. But the girls fought hard, pushing St. Anthony to a 5th set, losing a close one, 2-3 in a nailbiter. The girls bounced back, sweeping both games, 3-0, on Tuesday at California and 3-0 on Thursday against Valencia. Everyone left on the roster was able to contribute to this great start, going 2-1 for the week. Our JV and Frosh teams are also off to a great start, both going 3-0 for the week. Next up, Varsity will be playing at the Valencia HS tournament this Saturday, and all levels will be at home against Rosary Academy on Monday. Go Tribe.
