Week 15 - Second Semester
Friday, April 22, 2022
Hello FUHS Families!

We have 6 weeks left in this school year! The seniors have figured out they have 25 school days left! We are gearing up for an exciting end of the year with Prom around the corner!

We have also begun planning for next school year and the many changes that are coming. As mentioned last week we will be following state guidelines with an 8:30am start time. Our end time will be 3:30pm. During our Early Dismissal days our end time will be 2:25pm.

Aside from this big time shift, our FUHS staff has voted on adding In-Day Student Support Time to our schedule beginning next year. This is exciting news for us as we try to find more ways to support our students. This is a 25 min block of time attached to each period on a rotating, weekly basis so that teachers can help their own students in any way they need. Some of the benefits include:
  • Teachers working with their own students providing content specific support.
  • Additional time for students to make-up or retake assessments, projects, assignments within that class
  • Additional time to support students in smaller groups
  • Additional time to provide targeted support for students that would not normally ask for help
  • Additional time to master/practice the skills needed to be successful
  • Time could also be study hall if that is what students need while teachers work with students with lower grades
  • For AP/IB students, it gives more time to prepare for AP tests, review, etc.
  • Students receiving social emotional support services through contracted agencies or on an IEP will be able to also use this time to catch up for missed instructional time.
  • Additional time for teachers during their prep period (every 6 weeks)

This list is not exhaustive. Our teachers are creative, innovative, and care about our students and we're sure that more supportive ideas for this additional time will come as we go through next year. Below is a sample schedule with In-Day Support time scheduled for Period 1. We will be posting these schedules on our website soon so that you can see how our schedule will flow throughout the school year.

Athletics Review April 18th - 23rd

Baseball: After beating Troy twice this year, the boys had a hard time on Wednesday losing their third match-up of the year. The boys will come back strong on Friday for the final game against Troy for this season. The Varsity team will be fighting for a league championship going into the last two games against Sunny Hills.

Softball: The Varsity team split two games this week with La Habra and Buena Park. The TRIBE lost to La Habra 0-10 and beat Buena Park 5-3. The girls go into the last week of league against Troy and Sunny Hills with Troy at FUHS on Monday and FUHS at Sunny Hills on Wednesday. The team is 17-9 at this point of the season and still has a chance for the playoffs.

Boys Volleyball: Boys Volleyball ended their season this week with two losses to Troy and Sunny Hills. Although the boys struggled this year, they continued to improve and kept working the entire season. We are proud of the progress and development of our newest team!

Track: The Track team was off this week in preparation for the League Prelims and Finals here at FUHS next Monday and Wednesday. The matches start at 2:00pm.

Golf: Boys Golf had one match this week against La Habra losing 250-277. The boys keep working to improve and the new putting green and drive tunnels will help the boys and girls teams get in some extra work to lower our scores.

Boys Tennis: This was the last week of league matches and the Boys Varsity Tennis Team ended the regular season with a loss against two tough teams in Troy and Sunny Hills. Next week the boys head into league finals at Sunny Hills on Tuesday starting at 10 am. Good luck boys!
