Week 15
Friday, December 3, 2021
We hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving break! We are now in the home stretch for the end of the semester. Progress report grades came out this week. Please make sure that your student is ready for finals. Teachers are likely collecting the last of any late work or having the last of the last minute test retakes. Supporting our students and making sure they touch base with their teachers before next Friday would be a good idea. You may also go to the Aeries Parent Portal to check in on their grades.

Our activities are still in full swing! Next week we have our winter assembly, our Academy of the Arts programs have scheduled performances and shows, and our Winter Sports programs are well on their way to many victories! Let's make sure we come out and support our students!
Celebrations
Speech and Debate
To kick off Thanksgiving break, our team competed at the Glenbrooks Speech and Debate Tournament and received incredible results from our debaters.
Skies the Limit - Orangethorpe Elementary
This week we were fortunate to continue our Partnership with Orangethorpe Elementary School! Thank you to teachers Pam Keller and Nancy Karcher, and our own Michael Despars for all their work on this! The little ones wrote stories that were then submitted to the FUHS theater group. Our students then chose 8 stories to bring to life on stage. We had our little ones visit on Wednesday to see the performances! Thank you to Assistant Superintendent Dr. Sylvia Kaufman and Board Member Vicky Calhoun for stopping by. It was a great show! We can't wait to do it again next year!

If you have received a COVID 19 test, do not attend school until you receive the results of that test and then only if you are negative for COVID 19. Additionally, if you have been exposed to a person who has recently tested positive for COVID-19 please stay home and contact the school attendance office.

In accordance with the Center for Disease Control (CDC), CA Dept. of Public Health (CDPH), and Orange County Health Care Agency (OCHCA), we ask that you complete the Qualtrics survey each morning prior to arriving on campus. However, please do not attend school if you have experienced any COVID-related symptoms:

  • Chills
  • Cough
  • Sore throat
  • Runny or stuffy nose that is not associated with a pre-existing condition or other chronic health condition.

If you have received a COVID 19 test, do not attend school until you receive the results of that test and then only if you are negative for COVID 19.

Further, following the recommendations issued by the CDC, the CDPH has issued guidance in support of full in-person instruction and to as much instructional time as possible. A link to that guidance is included at the bottom of this communication.

Please note that masks will be required by all staff and students while indoors regardless of vaccinated status. As an extra precaution, FJUHSD is committed to continuing the enhanced cleaning procedures established to ensure that our schools are clean, sanitized, and safe. Further, temperatures will continue to be taken each morning.
