Happy Friday FUHS Families!

I hope you have a nice weekend lined up! We are due to have great Southern California weather! We are pulling through here at FUHS with as many activities and events as we can. Our students continue to participate in competitions and games. FUHS student artwork is currently being displayed at The Muckenthaler for the next three weeks as part of our FJUHSD District Art Show and the cast and crew of Matilda is busily having rehearsals getting ready for the big show! We continue to persevere and have fun here at FUHS! Make sure to stay up to date and follow our groups and teams on social media for live updates and celebrations!
Celebrations
Song Team
Please congratulate our song team as they competed in their first virtual competition of the year. This year our song team is comprised of eight dancers competing in the song/pom category with USA competitions. They have been hard at work with extra practices in the afternoons and early mornings! After a successful competition, they have earned their way to Nationals in March! Congratulations and best of luck on your upcoming competitions!
Employees of the Year
Every year we nominate and vote for employees who have been great examples of the FUHS spirit and have gone above and beyond for our students and staff. This year our Classified Employee of the Year is Jean Page our Library Technician! As one of her colleagues shared, "Jean shows up for staff and students with a smile each day. She provides a kind environment for students in the library and is always available to help! Jean has been immensely helpful in both supporting students and staff members..." Congratulations, Ms. Page!
Our honored Teacher of the Year is none other than our teacher and Athletic Director, Coach Joseph Olivas! Coach Olivas has done an amazing job helping us elevate Fullerton Athletics this year. In the words of one of his colleagues, "Joe has taken over a major role on this campus as Athletic Director. He has embraced this difficult time consuming job and has been awesome to work with this year. In addition to the AD job, Joe serves as a special education teacher. You can always find Mr. Olivas working with students all throughout the day to support them through their learning challenges. Mr. Olivas is a proud FUHS staff member..." Congratulations Coach!

Athletics Review Jan. 24th to Jan 28nd

Boys Basketball: Boys Basketball played La Habra this week and fell a little short of a victory. The boys take on Buena Park tonight to end the week and they will be playing at home this Sunday afternoon against Sunny Hills High School. Good Luck Boys!

Girls Basketball: Girls Varsity Basketball also played La Habra this week and lost. However, the girls have been improving each week and are still striving to get better. The girls take on Buena Park at Buena Park Friday night and will also play vs. Sunny Hills on Sunday.

Boys Soccer: Boys Varsity Soccer beat La Habra this week 4-0 and took on Buena Park this afternoon and beat them 5-0! We are on a roll!  JV boys are keeping pace and pulling out victories also!

Girls Soccer: Girls Varsity soccer played against La Habra and lost 5-2 showing great improvement going into their last game of the season. The girls fought for a 1-0 win vs. Buena Park on Thursday to send the seniors out with a bang on senior night.

Girls Water Polo: Girls Varsity Water Polo lost to Sunny Hills in the final match-up for league, but pulled out a victory against Troy in the first round of carousel. Carousel play continues on Monday at the Sunny Hills pool.

Wrestling: Wrestling had two matches this week winning both against Sunny Hills and La Habra. Going into the last match of the night, Levi Banuelos gets the pin to seal a 39-36 victory over La Habra and FUHS takes second place in the Freeway League. The Wrestling team also secured the City Championship in Wrestling with the win over Sunny Hills and Troy HS. The team heads to Mayfair HS this Saturday to start CIF playoffs. Good luck team!

COVID Protocols
To view more information, you may go to the district website.

We still have take-home COVID test kits for students to pick up. There will be information about more pick-up times for students next week. Please make sure to check your emails.
If you have received a COVID 19 test, do not attend school until you receive the results of that test and then only if you are negative for COVID 19. Additionally, if you have been exposed to a person who has recently tested positive for COVID-19 please stay home and contact the school attendance office.

In accordance with the Center for Disease Control (CDC), CA Dept. of Public Health (CDPH), and Orange County Health Care Agency (OCHCA), we ask that you complete the Qualtrics survey each morning prior to arriving on campus. However, please do not attend school if you have experienced any COVID-related symptoms:
  • Flu-like symptoms such as fever of 100.4 or greater
  • Chills
  • Cough
  • Sore throat
  • Runny or stuffy nose that is not associated with a pre-existing condition or other chronic health condition.

If you have received a COVID 19 test, do not attend school until you receive the results of that test and then only if you are negative for COVID 19.

Further, following the recommendations issued by the CDC, the CDPH has issued guidance in support of full in-person instruction and to as much instructional time as possible. A link to that guidance is included at the bottom of this communication.

Please note that masks will be required by all staff and students while indoors regardless of vaccinated status. As an extra precaution, FJUHSD is committed to continuing the enhanced cleaning procedures established to ensure that our schools are clean, sanitized, and safe. Further, temperatures will continue to be taken each morning.
Safety Procedures attending school during the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • All students and staff will complete a Qualtrics COVID Safety Survey each morning (the survey is sent to Student's school email).
  • Face coverings (masks) are required inside and are optional while outside. Please ensure that your students bring a mask everyday.
