Hello FUHS Families!

This week went by quickly! We ended with an amazing win by our Baseball team. Many of us took the drive out to Corona to watch them play and we were not disappointed! It was an exciting game and an even better win! We are on the road again on Tuesday, inching our way closer to the final CIF Championship! We just ended more than two weeks of successful AP and IB testing with only a few students left to test. Our seniors have two weeks left before they have senior activities and graduation. Finals are also getting close for all students. Please make sure that any last minute questions or concerns are taken care of with our teachers. Look up your student's grades on your Aeries Portal.

Celebrations

Senior Awards

We celebrated our top seniors last Thursday! Many received their cords or sashes for their hard work in our special programs and we have thousands of dollars granted by many of our community partners in student scholarships. Congratulations to all of our seniors for their accomplishments these last four years.

Also at our Senior Awards Ceremony we give out a Service Award to a student and another to an amazing staff member. This year the staff member awarded is Mrs. Katy Wren!! Thank you Mrs. Wren for all your dedication to our students and our school!

Mrs. Lawton is Retiring!

Being a teacher is definitely a work of the heart and a great journey for many of us. We love our students and what we do is for them. After 39 years of working as an educator our very own Mrs. Lupe Lawton will be retiring at the end of this school year. I had the honor and privilege of thanking and honoring her at a district ceremony last week with her family present. Mrs. Lawton has been an amazing teacher leader on this campus. She is one of the most humble and professional teachers I have had the pleasure to work with. At her core she cares about our students and their well being. She understands that her impact goes beyond the four walls of her classroom and her students love her for it. Throughout her career her focus has never shifted from concentrating becoming a better teacher for her students and that should be commended. Congratulations on your retirement Mrs. Lawton. Well deserved.

Yearbook Sweepstakes

Let's also congratulate our amazing Yearbook Staff! The Orange County Journalism Education Association comprises journalism advisers from high schools in the county. OCJEA organizes a competition for newspaper, yearbook and broadcasts students every February. For the first time since 2007, Fullerton has won first place!! Congratulations on a job well done! Can't wait to get my yearbook!

Academy of the Arts Awards & Showcase

Our Academy of the Arts also celebrated their seniors last week on Friday! The seniors received their cords for their dedication and hard work and we had a showcase of talents! Congratulations to all!

Athletic Review - May 9-14, 2022

Baseball: On Tuesday, the Varsity Baseball team won their second round game in the CIF Div. 4 Playoffs against Tahquitz H.S. The boys pulled out a 9-3 victory with home runs by George Papadatos and Connor Sunderland. The team traveled to Corona Santiago High School on Friday. We began strong with an early 4-0 lead with the Sharks coming back to make 9 runs. The Tribe persevered and stayed focused ending with a 14-9 win over Santiago with runs by Matt Kim, Nate Norman, Conner Sunderland, Andrew Violet, George Papadatos, Sebastian Fany, Drake Harris, and Jeremy Maldonado. We are on to the semi-finals on Tuesday, 5/17/22. We will be on the road to Aquinas High School in San Bernardino! Let’s keep it going boys!

Golf: Congratulations to Sangat Grewal who took 2nd place in the Freeway League lat week and finished in 18th place in CIF playoffs. Sangat came close to making it to the CIF State Finals, but fell just short losing in extra playoff holes. We are so excited for Sangat since he is only a sophomore and has a bright future ahead.

Boys Tennis: Doubles Team 2nd Place Freeway League finishers of Nathaniel Le and Timothy Chung will continue on as doubles partners in the the CIF Div. 4 play-offs. We wish both boys the best of luck. GO TRIBE!

Girls Track and Field: Layla Thorton represented FUHS at the CIF Division 2 Track and Field Finals at Moorpark High School on Saturday. She ended 6th place in Shot Put! Great job Layla!

It's that time of year when prospective FUHS students and parents can choose Fullerton! There is a Program Application for students that still want to be considered for Admission into Fullerton Union High School.
