AP Human Geography
The AP Human Geography students walked to Ralphs Grocery Store to conduct fieldwork on the geography of our food. Students worked in different departments to examine the types of food available, the prices of organic vs conventional food items, and the distance of the production regions for foods. As a follow-up in class, students applied the Von Thunen Model and the Bid-Rent Theory to establish how land and transportation costs affect food prices and offerings. Thank you Mrs. Hollon for engaging your students in this great field trip and activity!
