It’s been an amazing time for our FFA students.
They are at the 95th annual California State FFA Conference. There are over 6200 FFA members in attendance from all over the state. This year it is being held in Ontario. We have 11 Fullerton FFA members here. The students participate in leadership workshops, general sessions and make decisions about the organization. Softball
Fullerton Softball continues to have an excellent record of 11 wins and 1 loss throughout their preseason. The Tribe has been ranked by CIF as the #1 team in Division 4. The upcoming Softball program has also been ranked #24 in Orange County, and #48 in the state of California. Accomplishing plenty, Fullerton Softball has and will continue to grab attention. In two weeks, the Tribe prepares to open league with an away game against Sunny Hills @3:00pm. Our softball team was also featured in the OCRegister acknowledging our freshman pitcher, Malaya Majam-Finch. This young student athlete has already had a big impact on the team and continues to represent the Tribe proudly. The softball team will continue play next Saturday here at FUHS in the Katella Softball Tournament.

Baseball
Baseball has been rained-out for the last few weeks, but managed to get a game in with Pacifica which the Tribe lost 2-0. The boys bounced back quickly with a make-up game today with Douglas High School. The Tribe finished the week with a big win over Duglas, 16-4. Nate Norman had another big hit for a 3 score homerun. Conor Sunderland had a homerun of his own in helping the team bring home the win. Another notable performance today was freshman pitcher Declan Fitzgerald getting 3 strikeouts and not hits in his outing today. The team continues to play during spring break in the Anaheim Lions Tournament. You can catch games here at FUHS on Monday through Thursday. Follow us on Twitter for any updates to game times and team highlights @Fullertonbaseb2. Another great note for our baseball team this week is that the team was featured in the OCRegister under “Fullerton baseball might not be overlooked much longer.” Please read this article and follow the team.

Boys Volleyball
The boys had another solid week. Although we lost the match against Sunny Hills in the league opener, 1-3, the boys fought hard. Before our match, Sunny Hills have gone 30-0 in league matches, 90-1 in sets, with their only lost set in the hands of Troy 2 years ago. Although it’s hard to believe in moral victory, giving Sunny Hills only its 2nd set loss in our league history shows that our boys are making tremendous progress. We closed out the week with a big win over Sonora, 3-1. Our blocking from Nathan Medina and Emmett Young was big against Sonora. We are now sitting at 1-1, and 2nd place in the Freeway League. Get energized and come out to support our boys after Spring break.

Swim and Dive
Swim: On Monday, March 13th Fullerton swim raced Trabuco Hills. Although our swimmers raced well they faced a loss on all levels. Then on Wednesday, March 15th, we had our first league meet of the season, racing Sunny Hills high school. Again it was another tough loss for the levels but we had some incredibly fast times and lots of smiles and laughs. Freshman Sydney Cruz had a CIF qualifying time of 2:22.36 in the 200im and Sophmore Lilly Guevara qualified in two races. The 200im with a time of 2:18.51 and the 100 breaststroke with 1:11.85. Looking forward to after spring break. We have a meet against Sonora High School, on March 29th.
Dive: In diving this week, Abigail Ekstrom finished 1st at the Mt. SAC Winterfest Championships. This helps Abigail in qualifying for the CIF playoffs and helps her defend her CIF Championship from last year.
