Hello Fullerton Families!

It has been an eventful Friday! I'm sure you all received my earlier message on the possible gas plume that came through our area of town! We did have to evacuate the campus this morning. The City Fire Department, The Gas Company, and our Maintenance & Operations crew went through the campus and classrooms to ensure that all was clear. Our students and staff were diligent in following all evacuation procedures and we were able to return to our normal schedule once we were given the all-clear. Your student's safety is always our top priority and the entire team worked together to ensure they were safe this morning.

The weather seems to be on our side so far! I hope you enjoy your weekend!

Football

BREA OLINDA (2-1) VS. FULLERTON (2-2)

Fullerton High, Friday, 7 p.m.

Analysis: Brea won its first two games, over California and Valencia, before losing to Sunny Hills 16-0 last week. Receiver Roman Meraz, All-North Hills League first team last season, is having another good season with 16 receptions for 179 yards. Fullerton lost to San Dimas 33-6, defeated Whittier 39-7, lost to high-scoring Canyon 49-14 and last week beat Santa Fe Springs 20-0. Defensive linemen Isaac Galvez, Jaden Pulsifer and David Williams led the Indians’ shutout of Santa Fe Springs. If that defense plays as well as it did last week, Fullerton gets past the .500 mark.

Cheer & Song

Last week Cheer and Song supported the varsity football team at their away game. The cheerleaders and song leaders were on top of their game in the rain! Join us this Friday for our home game and stop by the Kona Ice truck to support Cheer & Song!

Boys Water Polo

This week we played games against Chino Hills High School and University High School. With a hard-fought match against chino we won 12-11 but unfortunately fell to university 11-10. Next week we start our league matchups where we plan to dominate! JV played its first league game against Sunny Hills winning 10-8.

Cross Country

The cross country team had a busy week starting with a rescheduled meet and one of our largest invitationals. Monday’s race, hosted by Troy at their home course, was our first league meet of the season and the athletes did not disappoint. The boys' frosh-soph team came in first overall with Jude Banda coming in first for our team at 21:02. He was quickly followed by Anthony Benedetto (21:17.2) and Drake Bromley (21:17.4). The boys JV team earned second overall by securing the top 3 spots in the race. Carlos Martinez came in as the first place runner and the first scorer at 19:54 and was supported by Seth Sanders (20:34) and Adam Zibell (21:03). The boys' varsity squad finished second overall with Alejandro Hernandez (17:32), Nathan Limon (17:45), and Troy Fernandez (18:47) as the top scorers. The girls' teams showed great promise with the JV team coming in third place overall. The top 3 scorers were Emilie Sanchez (26:38), Christina Hernandez (26:39), and Miley Basas (27:52). Girls Varsity came in fourth place overall with Morgan McAndrew coming in first for the team at 21:39. She was closely supported by Ansal Esquivias (22:58) and Amy Ramos (26:19).

Despite having to race only 3 days later, the results at the Woodbridge Invitational were phenomenal! So many of our athletes set personal records and received medals. There is no doubt that the time, effort, and commitment of these athletes is paying off, and we are excited for the rest of the season. The team will focus on using this positive energy to train and prepare for the Dana Hills Invitational this upcoming Saturday, September 24, at Dana Hills High School.

Girls Golf

The girls' golf team had some tough matches this week with Sonora and Sunny hills. They look to play La Habra this coming Tuesday and Buena Park Thursday. Some of the JV girls got a start on the varsity roster and are working hard to make it permanent.

Girls Tennis

The Girls Tennis Team ended the Preseason on a high note, defeating Walnut Tuesday 15-3 and Esperanza Thursday 16-2. The team starts league play next Tuesday against defending league champ, Sunny Hills. The team ended the Preseason 5-1.

Girls Volleyball

The girls is having a rough start to league, losing to both Sonora and Sunny Hills 1-3 in both games. The girls never gave up, just things did not go their way. Lauren Hansen and Zoe Kamizolas is leading the team in blocks, while Kaylee Koerth continues to lead in kills. They are working hard every day to turn things around. JV is off to a 1-1 start and Frosh is 2-0. Next up is Tuesday at La Habra.
