Dear FUHS Families,
We had a great week at FUHS! Our ASB organized a great Cancer Awareness Week, culminating at our Football game Friday night where our Football Boosters fundraised and donated over $2000 to the KM Legacy Foundation! ASB also continued getting ready for Homecoming, which is this coming Friday and Saturday! Our activities and celebrations continue at FUHS!

College Application and Success Day (PSAT/ASVAB Day)
|
|
College and Career Readiness Day
On Wednesday, October 13th we will have a special schedule to allow our students to participate in various activities designed to expose students to college as well as get our seniors ready to click submit on those applications! The school will also be covering the cost of the PSAT and ASVAB for all students.
School will start at 7:50am and end at 12:15pm.
Seniors: College Application Day
Seniors will have the opportunity to rotate through different college stations to help them prepare for life after high school. Stations include CSU Applications, UC Applications, Private/Out of State University Applications, Fullerton College, Community Colleges, Personal Statement Writing, and FAFSA. Seniors have been meeting with their Counselor and selecting what workshop they would like to attend on October 13th.
Juniors & Sophomores: PSAT or ASVAB
All Juniors have the option of taking the PSAT or the ASVAB. Students made their selection through a survey provided in English class. Sophomores will be taking the PSAT.
Freshmen: PSAT 8/9 or Success Day
Freshmen will be taking the PSAT 8/9. This exam will be digital so all 9th-grade students need to bring their fully charged Chromebook with them. Any Freshman who has been identified as needing extra support to get on the track to success will be meeting in the MSA building and attending workshops covering organization, school involvement, and mental health. (Individual students will be contacted).
All Juniors, Sophomores, and Freshmen will need to check the breezeway beginning Tuesday, October 12th to see which classroom they will be assigned to.
If you have questions about the PSAT or PSAT 8/9 contact Counselor Erin DeFries edefries@fjuhsd.org. If you have questions about the ASVAB contact Mrs. Kim at hkim@fjuhsd.org.

Athletics Review Oct. 4th to Oct. 9th
Boys Water Polo: Boys Water Polo beat Buena Park 16-11. In lower-level action, JV lost to La Habra and the Freshman won vs. La Habra. Our JV team also played Sonora and beat them.
Girls Tennis: Girls Tennis lost both Varsity and JV to Sunny Hills. In the weeks' second match, Varsity beat Sonora 18-0 along with JV getting a win. Lillian and Abby Kelly were top scorers winning 6-0 in their matches.
Girls Volleyball - From Coach Pese: The girls lost a tough one to La Habra on Tuesday, but recovered on Thursday with a sweeping win over Buena Park. With the win, the ladies are tied for 4th place, with still a chance at the playoffs. Kaylee Koerth and Sydney Elliot lead the team on kills, while Alyssa Bouquet and Hailee Nelson lead the team on defense. Come out and support the girls on Monday in a must win game. We will also recognize our seniors for their contribution to our program.
Cross Country: At the Sunny Hills Invitational our boys team finished 15th over all out of 29 teams and our girls finished 27th overall. In Cluster #2 of league, our teams finished 5th. Frosh/Soph boys’ runner Ryan Leitner finished 1st, Nathan Karcher finished 4th and Riley Oates finished 8th. Our JV girls finished 3rd in the 2nd cluster. Our top performer was Reagan Glidewell in 4th place. Boys JV came in 5th place with our top performer Lukas Willis-Guerrero coming in 1st place. Our girls varsity top performer was Morgan McAndrew coming in 4th place and our top boy varsity performer was Nathan Limon coming in 10th place. Our Cross Country teams will be at the O.C. Championships on Oct. 15th at Oak Canyon Park.
Girls Golf Lost matches against La Mirada and La Habra. The team technically picked up a win against BP because BP doesn’t field a girls golf team.
Football: Football lost to La Habra. The team is moving on to Buena Park and working to win the Homecoming Game.

COVID Entrance Procedures
|
Safety Procedures attending school during the COVID-19 pandemic.
- All students and staff will complete a Qualtrics COVID Safety Survey each morning (the survey is sent to Student's school email).
- Students will be directed to the central building breezeway as they enter campus where they will show their green checkmark from the completed survey permitting them to be on campus.
- Students will walk through the thermal-imaging temperature cameras in the breezeway as they show their green Qualtrics survey checkmarks.
- Face coverings (masks) are required inside and are optional while outside. Please ensure that your students bring a mask everyday.
|
|
If you have received a COVID 19 test, do not attend school until you receive the results of that test and then only if you are negative for COVID 19. Additionally, if you have been exposed to a person who has recently tested positive for COVID-19 please stay home and contact the school attendance office.
In accordance with the Center for Disease Control (CDC), CA Dept. of Public Health (CDPH), and Orange County Health Care Agency (OCHCA), we ask that you complete the Qualtrics survey each morning prior to arriving on campus. However, please do not attend school if you have experienced any COVID-related symptoms:
- Flu-like symptoms such as fever of 100.4 or greater
- Chills
- Cough
- Sore throat
- Runny or stuffy nose that is not associated with a pre-existing condition or other chronic health condition.
If you have received a COVID 19 test, do not attend school until you receive the results of that test and then only if you are negative for COVID 19.
Further, following the recommendations issued by the CDC, the CDPH has issued guidance in support of full in-person instruction and to as much instructional time as possible. A link to that guidance is included at the bottom of this communication.
Please note that masks will be required by all staff and students while indoors regardless of vaccinated status. As an extra precaution, FJUHSD is committed to continuing the enhanced cleaning procedures established to ensure that our schools are clean, sanitized, and safe. Further, temperatures will continue to be taken each morning.
