Marching Band and Colorguard
CSBC Marching Arts Experience - Saturday, September 30 2023 at Ramona HS
The Marching Band and Colorguard participated in field clinics with CSBC adjudicators to get targeted feedback on their visual and musical performance of their competitive field show. The clinic was followed by student masterclasses where students chose to participate based on the focus of the clinician: instrument masterclasses, breathing gym, Colorguard technique, body technique, etc.
The students had a great time at the event that officially kicked off our field season and look forward to a great first performance of our field show, "AVIATION: From the Sand to the Stars" for an audience this Friday night at our home Varsity football game!

Football:
After an upsetting loss of 35-34 last Friday, September 30th, to cross-town rivals, Troy HS, the Indians are looking to light up the stadium with a W at home this week!! Varsity football is returning home this Friday, October 6th, to celebrate our SENIORS and take on the Lancers of Sunny Hills.
Tribe Football had some impressive offensive performances by Ryan Reger, Zach Fanny, and Malachi Meni. And let’s not forget our O-Line (Chew, Lerma, Arnold, Minero, Ibarra, and Williams) who kept a clean pocket allowing our playmakers to make plays.
Big performances on defense from Aidan Zavala and Abdul Umar. We can’t forget to mention David Williams who made several big tackles and a sack. And of course, Dallas Padron came in hot at the end of the game with a huge interception.
Football is ready to take the field and we hope to see you all there!!

Cheer and Song:
Varsity cheer and song cheered at our nail-biting close game against Troy! Our football team fought hard! We loved participating in ASB’s White Lie theme and can not wait to be a part of more themes! We are looking forward to October full of Breast Cancer Awareness, Senior Night, and Homecoming! Come watch our halftime routine this Friday, Oct 6th for Senior night!
We also had a successful first-ever STUNT tryout on Monday night! From 41 potential athletes, we are excited to look forward and start building a team for our 2024 season! The team will be announced at the end of the week via social media! Go, Tribe!

Tennis:
A great way to end the first half of the season, dominating BP with a score of 18-0. The singles squad of Abigail Kelly (6-2, 6-0, 6-0), Kate Luengo (6-1, 6-2, 6-2), and Hailey Kwok (6-3, 6-0, 6-2) all had a slow start to the day, but picked up steam and won all their matches easily.
The doubles team of Rebecca Balarie and Christina Sfatcu continues to chase down the elusive 100 wins, winning their 3 matches with ease (6-0, 6-0, 6-0), bringing their two-year record to 90 wins and 1 loss. 10 more matches to go girls! Thursday they will be looking for a little payback against Troy's #2 doubles who gave the girls their only loss. The #2 doubles team of Bonnie Lynch and Nicole White (6-0, 6-0, 6-1) and the #3 doubles team of Amber Elomina and Francine Bondoc (6-2, 6-2, 6-1) are also doing well and should give Troy a better match this Thursday.

Cross Country:
The boys and girls competed in their 2nd league meet at Clark Regional Park in hot conditions which topped out in the low 90s! The varsity girls took over 1st place in the standings with a narrow team victory over Troy High School, 45-48 (low-score wins). Morgan McAndrew led the team with her 2nd place individual finish while Reagan Glidewell and Sofia Tabbal both cracked the top 10. Senior Ansal Esquivias, sophomores Melina Sibal, Darely Rizo Roman, and freshman Ella Casto also turned in big races as the girls' team depth helped pull out the victory. The girls are in a position to win their first league title in school history when they compete in the freeway league finals on November 1st! The boys' team maintained their 3rd place team standing with a stronger finish than their first league meet.
The team scores were extremely close with Troy taking 1st (48 points), Sonora 2nd (49 points), and Fullerton 3rd (53 points). In the first league meet, the boys finished 19 and 9 points behind Troy and Sonora. Alejandro Hernandez continued his dominant season with another 1st place individual finish while junior Jack Golla placed 4th individually. Newcomer Max Olivares stepped up to place 12th, sophomores Jude Banda and Anthony Benedetto placed 17th and 19th, and senior Nathan Karcher was 21st. The boys remain in position to qualify for CIF for the 2nd year in a row and have a chance at the freeway league finals to win a share of the league title. For this to happen, Fullerton must win the meet and Sonora would have to beat Troy. Great races for both our boys and girls in very tough conditions! Full Freeway League Meet Results here.

Girls Volleyball:
After a great week last week going 2-0, the ladies had a rough week going 0-2, losing to Sunny Hills 0-3. On Thursday, we recognized all our 14 seniors in our senior night for their contribution to our program. The ladies played Sonora, taking 2 out of the first 3 sets, but was unable to close out the game by losing the last 2 sets to lose 2-3. Avery Long and Kaori Gabourel had great games against Sonora, leading the team in kills, Cora Sailhamer continues to lead in assists, while Noah Chung lead in defensive digs. In the middle, despite being undersized, Lauren Hansen and Mary Cooper held their own to slow down the much bigger Sonora middles.

Boys Water Polo:
The boys' team came out strong this week facing off against the Sonora Raiders. Josiah Jessup, our goalie, shut down 6 potential goals. While Gideon Elshof had 3 blocks. Christian Lawson and Maurice Huy both had huge breakaways scoring one goal each. Ryan Verity, Joshua Reed, and Owen Coloumbe put away two goals. Justin Pearson scored three goals, one of them being an amazing half-court shot. Then Brandon Fan shined bright with four goals! Joshua Reed also with his huge defense had 4 steals. We took the win ending the game 15-4.
