Good Morning Fullerton Families,

Our Friday started with an FPD visit in the morning after receiving non-credible information. To review the letter sent home, click here.

Although many games did get a chance to get in the books, we were not able to complete all of our scheduled games due to rain but stay tuned for some rescheduling!

Thursday night we hosted our second annual Freshman Showcase. All incoming 9th-grade students were invited to speak to students and teachers about our Programs and sports teams! We can't wait to see our future Class of 2027!

Activities

Water Quality Fieldtrip

Mrs. Perez's AP Environmental Science class took a field trip to the Hillcrest Park duck pond to test water quality. Students participated in hands-on field research by utilizing scientific probes to test levels of dissolved oxygen and temperature. Students also completed a macroinvertebrate survey, in which they used nets to gather macroinvertebrates like larvae, snails, and worms. They then identified the different macroinvertebrate species to determine the biodiversity of the pond. Once back in class, they tested the turbidity, pH, phosphorus, and nitrate levels of the pond as well. After analyzing all of these water quality indicators, students concluded that the Hillcrest Duck pond water has healthy levels. This experience allowed students to gather authentic data in the field and apply their understanding of the concepts discussed in their AP Environmental Science class to real-world scenarios. It was a beautiful and productive day enjoyed by all! Thank you Mrs. Perez for giving our students this great experience!

Celebrations

March is National Nutrition Month

We want to thank our own cafeteria team for their hard work in ensuring that our students are fed and taken care of! Our students get free breakfast and lunch and in many cases supper as well and these great ladies are in charge of it all! Thank you for all you do for our kids! We appreciate you!

Speech and Debate

Fullerton Union Speech & Debate was doing double duty and competed at 2 tournaments this past weekend. First, we went to Cal State Long Beach to qualify for State Competition. Audrey Bae, Mackenzie Mauldin, and Josh Lee literally swept the competition, went undefeated, and qualified for State Championships! Audrye Bae qualified again this year to defend her State Champion Title. Mackenzie and Josh Qualified in Public Forum. State Championship will be hosted at Carlsbad High school in April.

Next, we went to our national qualifier at Crescenta Valley High School. Molly Cooper and Matthew Martinez placed 3rd and 2nd to qualify for Nationals. They both competed in the same event: Program Oral Interpretation. The National Speech & Debate Association’s National Tournament will be hosted in Phoenix Arizona this year.

Culinary & Hospitality Academy

Congratulations to our great team from our Culinary & Hospitality Academy who competed last weekend in the California Restaurant Foundation ProStart Cup 2023! Overall we won 3rd place in the BJ's Restaurants Management Cup among other individual awards! Congratulations to all students who participated!
