Good evening Fullerton Families!

We've had a great week here at FUHS! Fun ASB Rallies at break time, an amazing Choral Concert, and some great athletic events! Thank you, parents, friends, and family for all your support.

Congratulations to the class of 1972 who celebrated their 50-year Reunion this weekend! It was an honor to give them a tour of our campus.

Have a great weekend Fullerton!

Rally at break!

Geography is Fun!

AP Human Geography students participated in a Geographic Information Systems field trip at Cal State Fullerton. Students saw a demonstration of the ways geography is used in a variety of jobs, analyzed geographic photos, and used online GIS software to map ethnic groups and poverty levels in the US and Orange County. Students were then treated to a campus tour by CSUF professors John Carroll, Zia Salim, and Freddi Bruschke.

Cross Country

Our cross-country teams competed at the OC Championships last Friday. The boys placed 4th in the small school varsity race and the girls placed 8th. The boys placed four runners inside the top 40 to record their highest finish at the OC Championships in the past two decades. Their team time of 83 minutes and 4 seconds (16:37 avg/3 mile race) placed them on Fullerton’s all-time team record list. The team was led by Alejandro Hernandez (17th, 16:14), Nathan Limon (20th, 16:16), Troy Fernandez (38th, 16:41), Jack Golla (40th, 16:43), Ryan Leitner (57th, 17:09), Daniel Frausto (75th, 17:40), and Brandon Miyasato (94th, 18:06).

The girls' team time of 104:28 is an average of 20:54 per girl for 3 miles and moves them up on Fullerton’s historical list for team time. Junior Morgan McAndrew led the girls with her 2nd place individual finish in a time of 18:25. Her time placed her14th fastest junior overall in the county. Other team members for varsity included Ansal Esquivias (44th, 20:32), Reagan Glidewell (58th, 21:00), Amy Ramos (69th, 21:32), and freshman Miley Basas (89th, 22:56). As a team, the girls placed 8th out of 15 with 217 points. Corona del Mar won the race with 44 points.

On Friday, Oct. 21st, the team competed in the Mt. Sac Invitational. The boys and girls ran a controlled effort as they geared up for Freeway League Finals in less than 2 weeks. The historic Mt. Sac is also the site of the CIF Prelims and Finals to be held in mid-November. The boys currently sit in 2nd place with a CIF spot inevitable while the girls have their sights on jumping from 4th to 3rd place to earn an entry into the CIF Prelims. Fullerton has not had a girls' team compete in CIF for 7 years while the boys have not competed there in 9 years. The next few weeks will be historic for both programs!

Boys Water Polo

In our game vs. SOHS, we came out the gate strong and we finished first quarter 12-4! Sonora stayed in the game though, but not fierce enough for our victory 18 to 12!  Chris Osborn, Cross Artica, Owen Colombo, Christian Lawson, and Mile McAndrew all had 1 goal.

Justin Pearson won 2 out of 3 of his sprints for possession. Asher Brazo had 2 blocks and Josiah Jessup had 7 blocks.

John Foglesong with an outstanding 5 goals

Preston Kim with 3 goals

Sawyer Wilks with 2 goals

Football

Hard fought loss to La Habra last week. Working on limiting mistakes. The defense came up with big stops.

The Tribe is focused on Buena Park this week. Wins against Buena Park and Troy gets Fullerton back into the CIF playoffs. Looking for a big GAME Friday night.

Girls Golf

The girls varsity team had four athletes that participated in the CIF prelims on Monday. Julia missed making it to round two by a few shots. Great Effort by all girls competing this year.

Girls Tennis

The girls tennis concluded league play by blanking Burna Park in Monday (18-0) and fought Troy on Wednesday to a.stand still 9-9 only to lose in a game count (75-69). The team ended the season with a record of 6-4, 11-5 overall. But the brightest spot on the team is the number 1 doubles team, Christina Sfatcu and Rebecca Balarie, who ended the season undefeated, league best 30-0, and 45-0 overall. Amazing accomplishment! Next week the girls enter league finals tournament. Good luck to all!
