Activites

Earth Day

It was such an exciting and celebratory week for both the club students and the AP Environmental Science students. On Monday (Earth Day) the APES students did the chalk drawing Public Service Announcement art, and on Wednesday we partnered with FJC to attend their Eco Fair by going over to visit for a field trip. We learned a lot about our local environmental organizations like Friends of Coyote Hills and picked up plenty of "swag" items.

The Environmental Science Club launched their Clean. Conserve. Connect campaign to stop pollution on and around campus. Monday they wore the shirts they designed and made, Tuesday they posted their infographics around campus, Thursday they hosted a lunch clean up, and Friday their informational video was included in the video announcements. Overall it was a fun week!

Love Fullerton

Last Saturday our students made waves in their community! 🏙️🌳🌟 We're bursting with pride as our students took part in Love Fullerton Community Service Day, lending a helping hand to clean up and beautify our city. 🌟💚 From picking up litter to sprucing up local parks and helping out schools, their dedication to making a difference shines bright!

STUNT:

Congratulations to all of our power players from each game this season! They were all recognized on our Instagram this past week! Also, a big congratulations to our power players for game seven against Orange Lutheran! FUHS scored four points and two athletes that were crucial to those four points being scored was Isabella Kim and Aaliya Bermudez! Congrats girls!

Our league season has come to a close, and being a part of such a high performing league proved to be tough, but our girls persevered. This team pushed forward, practiced hard, and learned how to encourage and support other teammates in a true sport fashion. Us coaches could not be more proud. This team is full of young talent and we are very excited to see how this translates into sideline and hopefully next STUNT season. Power players and All League will be announced next week!

Baseball

This past Tuesday the boys clinched their 3rd consecutive Freeway League Championship with a 6-3 win over Buena Park. It was also senior day so we also got to celebrate our seniors with their families. Boys are excited to be in the Division 1 Playoffs next week. Which is considered the hardest tournament in America.

Softball

Last Friday our Varsity Softball team clinched the Freeway League Title for the first time in 10 years! Congratulations to Head Coach Trevor Holton and Asst. Coach Shu Todoroki!

Last Friday, Tribe Softball honored its graduating athletes during Senior Day, and what a special day it was! Tribe put the finishing touches on their 11th blowout victory of the season as they stepped up to hand the Sonora Raiders a 9-0 shutout and clinched the league title with that win! It was the first time in 10 years for Fullerton to win the league title!

Not much got past freshman Katelynn Mathews, who gave up just two hits and racked up 12 Ks to keep Sonora off the board. On the hitting side, senior George Washington commit Emi Todoroki was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Another player making a difference was senior Tennessee State commit Tianna Salcido, who went 2-for-4 with a stolen base, a double, and an RBI. Fullerton waltzed into their matchup on Monday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. It was a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over the La Habra Highlanders.

Fullerton got a great performance from Mathews as she tossed 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. On the hitting side, Fullerton's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was senior Sonoma State commit Ava Paquin, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

On Wednesday, Tribe Softball came out on top against the Buena Park Coyotes by a score of 5-1. That's more bragging rights for Fullerton, who also won the pair's last head-to-head. Matthews tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in three consecutive pitching appearances.

At the plate, Brock was excellent, going 1-for-4 with a triple, two RBI, and a run.

Playoffs start next week! GO TRIBE!!

Boys Volleyball

Congrats to the boys on a great season, finishing 2nd in league. Unfortunately, with 2 games left in the regular season, we were delivered a major setback with a season ending injury to one of our starters, who was a major factor as one of the most consistent weapons on both sides of the ball. So going into the playoffs, we knew it was going to be a huge challenge. The boys gave their all in the first round of CIF against Sage Hill, but came up just short, losing 1-3. We are proud of the work that our senior class and the rest of the team did this year, and the returning players are hungry to come back next season. They have built a foundation for our program to grow into. Thank you Rowan Yeo, Hyunmin Kim, Jack Castellanos, Dallas Padron, Jude Ruiz, and Cameron Hird for a memorable season. Go Tribe!

Track and Field

The girls track team finished up the regular season at the Freeway League Championships this past Wednesday and came away with many top 3 finishes. The varsity girls maintained their 2nd place team standing and the frosh-soph girls finished as undefeated league champions! Leading the way was senior Morgan McAndrew and sophomore Melina Sibal as the pair combined to score over 30 points for the team. Morgan competed in the 1600m (3rd, 5:24), 800, (1st, 2:24), and anchored the 4x400 to victory with a 60.15 split. Melina placed 2nd in the 100m (12.93), 3rd in the 200m (26.81), and anchored the 4th place 4x100 team. Freshman Mahlia Jordan

The running events began with Jack Golla’s 3rd place finish in the 1600 meters, with a time of 4:28.71, his first time under 4:30. This amazing performance was followed by the 400 meters where Heikki Kohlenberger’s time of 52.86 earned him a 2nd place finish. In the 800 meters, Jack Golla earned the title of league champion with his exceptionally fast time of 2:02.34. In the 300 meter hurdles, Dylan Cobbs won the title of league champion with his time of 42:93 and Anthony Benedetto’s time of 43:55 earned him a 3rd place finish. In the 3200 meters, Alejandro Hernandez came in 2nd place with a time of 10:01.25. In the final running event of the evening, the crowd was on their feet as the 4x400 team of Heikki Kohlenberger, Elijah Jordan, Nathan Karcher, and Shaun Marshall ran a very fast 3:36.57, earning them a 1st place finish and the title of league champions.

The Frosh/Soph Boys were successful in keeping their undefeated streak alive in the final meet of the season. In the league finals, the team fought for every point in this extremely close contest. The boys showed dedication and determination with several athletes winning medals at league finals. The first event of the frosh/soph league finals took place last week with the 3200 meters race. Sophomore Jude Banda won the title of league champion, with a time of 10:26. He was followed by freshman Bo Sanderson, coming in at 10:27, earning him a 2nd place finish.

The field events began early Wednesday afternoon, and the boys had great success. Michael McMackin was named league champion with his 38’8” triple jump. Collin Yung won 3rd place in the discus throw with a mark of 93’3” and Christopher Cooper had a 2nd place finish in the high jump with a mark of 4’10”.

The evening’s running events were all close contests. In the 1600 meters, Jude Banda came in 2nd place with a time of 4:47.41, followed closely by Yousef Awad with a time of 4:47.85, earning him a 3rd place finish. In the 400 meter dash, Brody McMackin won 2nd place with a time of 55:28. The 800 meters kept the spectators on their toes as Bo Sanderson and Yousef Awad came in 2nd and 3rd place respectively, with only .2 seconds separating their finishes! Jonah Moreno kept the intensity alive as he won 3rd place in the 300 meter hurdles, with a time of 47.84. In the final running event of the evening, the 4x400 team of Michael McMackin, Brody McMackin, Cole Davis, and Nico Martin won 2nd place, securing the team’s undefeated season.
