Hello FUHS Families!

As usual it's been an exciting week at Fullerton! Great sports competition wins and adorable PROMPosals happening! We had a schoolwide assembly last week and we rallied for Prom! Ticket sales began this week! We have about 7 weeks left in the school year and time is running out fast. I hope the students enjoyed their extra day off today while our teachers were busily working and already thinking about next school year!

Please note Dr. McLaughlin's latest memo sharing with us more information on our 8:30am start time for next year. At FUHS we are putting the final touches on the new bell schedule which will include special student support time. We hope to share it with you soon.

Athletics Review April 11th - 16th

Baseball: This week the FUHS Baseball team had three games against 2 different teams. On Wednesday the TRIBE took on Buena Park and beat them 14-0. The boys followed that win with another win over cross town rival Troy in the Halo Classic at Angel Stadium. The boys pulled out a strong win with a 5-0 victory. Both teams played tough, the TRIBE came through in the late innings. To end the week the Baseball team fought off a tough Buena Park team that tried to bounce back from their loss on Wednesday. However, our boys stayed strong and came through with a 5-4 victory. Next week the TRIBE takes on Troy again on Wednesday and Friday.

Softball: This week in Softball the girls had a tough time with Sunny Hills and Sonora. In the Sunny Hills game the TRIBE lost 1-4 and in the Sonora game we lost 2-8. Both teams were tough competition, but the girls won’t let this keep them down. Next week the TRIBE takes on both La Habra and Buena Park for away games. Travel with the team and cheer on the girls.

Boys Volleyball: Boys Volleyball played La Habra and Buena Park this week with the boys winning both games. The boys beat La Habra 3-0 and beat Buena Park 3-1. The boys are 4-4 in league going into the last week of play. Next week we play Troy on Tuesday and Sunny Hills on Thursday. Let’s see if we can make it into the play-offs!

Track: This week in Track & Field the TRIBE took on Buena Park, Sonora and Troy in league match-ups. Varsity girls beat Buena Park and lost to Sonora. The girls league record is 3-2 heading into league finals. Varsity boys beat Buena Park and are 2-3 in league. Matt Abernathy won the 400m and 800m. DJ Cobbs won the Long jump, triple jump, and high jump, and Donovan Yepez scored in both hurdle events. Layla Thornton won the shot put, Natasha Pavelek won the 300 hurdles, Lana Flynn won the long jump, McKayla Felesmino helped score points in the hurdles and triple jump, and Morgan McAndrew scored in the 1600m and 800m. Frosh soph girls are 4-1 and frosh soph boys are 5-0 in league. Freeway League Prelims will be held at FUHS in two weeks in addition to League Finals. Be sure to come watch all the fun. Track will be holding a Distance Carnival this Saturday at FUHS in the stadium starting at 4:00 pm.

Golf: This week the Boys Golf team opened the week with a 214-178 loss to Sunny Hills. However, the boys picked themselves up and pulled out a win over Sonora with a score of 212-246. Sangat Grewal on 9 holes shot a 34 and Jack McMackin shot a 39 to lead the Fullerton team. Great job boys!

Boys Tennis: Boys Tennis took on La Habra and Buena Park this week in league play. The boys beat La Habra 13-5 and beat Buena Park 13-5. The boys go into the last week of league play against Troy and Sunny Hills. Boys Tennis League Finals start on April 26th with Varsity at Sunny Hills High School and JV at Troy High School.
