Happy New Year! Are You Practicing Kindness?

A Message from Principal George Clement:

Happy New Year!

At this time the calendar forces us to remember and reflect on the past and resolve to create a better new year. One item I have reflected upon is the proliferation of signs hung in various establishments that express sentiments like, “Please be kind, we are short staffed and doing the best we can.”

Perhaps the pandemic is the parent of impatience, intolerance, and insensitivity. Whatever the cause, it is sad that kind behavior must be requested rather than expected.

I saw one sign that said, “THINK before you speak,” and one of my resolutions is to share this bit of advice with our students.

“THINK before you speak.”

T: Is it True?

H: Is it Helpful?

I: Is it Inspiring?

N: Is it Necessary?

K: Is it Kind?

I’m hoping if I can remember that anacronym and maybe a few others too, perhaps we can recast kindness from a request into a basic expectation.

-Mr. Clement

Soup Group: Weekly Take-Out from Culinary Arts

Did you know the Culinary Arts and Hospitality students provide a weekly "Soup Group" take-out service that is open to the public?

What began as a way to offer services during the pandemic has grown into a popular service for residents of our local towns.

Every Friday at 2:30 PM, we open an online order form to order soup and desserts that can be picked up the following Thursday between 10:00 AM and 1 PM. The form closes on Monday morning. Students deliver the order curbside and you do not have to leave your vehicle! The order form is publicized on social media and our website each week.

This week's soup: mulligatawny. Order now!
