MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Parents/Guardians:

As we near the end of another school year, I would like to take this opportunity to express to all of you my deepest appreciation for your continued support, cooperation, and patience as we journeyed through this year together. As parents, you consistently went the “extra mile” to ensure that our faculty, staff and students had a positive, productive and enjoyable school year. One of the exceptional strengths of the St. Paul community is the vast amount of parental participation that we receive. There have been countless occasions when you have stepped up in ways that exceeded my highest expectations. The words “thank you” just don’t seem adequate enough, but please know that you are valued and are invaluable to us in ways that can never be diminished.

A special note of gratitude is extended to the members of our School Board, PWC Board, Finance Council, Festival Board, Father’s Club, and the Sr. Stella Foundation. It has been a pleasure to work with these various groups and to have them share an unbiased, fresh and intelligent perspective regarding many issues/situations that sometimes challenged us. They have also given respected input (with careful scrutiny) of the plans we have for moving forward as a school community. Caring is at the heart of everything they do, and Fr. Gil and I are very grateful to have worked with them during our first year in leadership at St. Paul’s.

And finally, as the Class of 2025 graduates next Monday morning, I want to thank these students for being SAINTS! We have truly appreciated the many times that they represented St. Paul the Apostle School in a positive Christian manner, not only in extracurricular activities, but also within the parish and local community. Whether they were playing on a sports team, participating in a school activity, volunteering their time to help others, representing our school in a contest, or participating in a service project, our students continuously demonstrated that they were a wonderful blessing to all of us.

Everyone who has had the honor of teaching and working with your children this year is very grateful for that opportunity. We thank you for trusting us to teach the academic lessons, but more importantly, to assist you with the faith and moral formation of your children. Thank you for your prayers and support, for your trust and honesty, and for your care and commitment. The faculty and staff are looking forward to working with you next year as they continue to make SPA one of the best schools in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles! Siempre Adelante…always forward!

Peace and Blessings,

ANNOUNCEMENTS

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION!

We're excited to share that construction is beginning on Monday, June 2nd, with the continuation of the roofing project and the removal of the church pews for restoration. This impacts our Ohio entrance. To keep everyone safe and sound during construction, we'll be making a few temporary changes from Monday, June 2nd through Friday, June 13th (the end of our school year).

What's Happening:

  • The Ohio drop-off and pick-up area will be temporarily closed for student safety.
  • The driveway will be off-limits to both cars and pedestrians during this time.
  • All morning traffic people will report to Selby for traffic duty throughout construction to expedite student drop-off.
  • On 8th grade Graduation Day, June 9th, we will reserve this entrance for our graduates’ guests and continue regular school drop off at the Selby entrance.

The Plan for Our DK Students:

Don't worry - we've got everything covered! Our DK students will start their day gathering in the After School Care room with their teachers. When it's time for class to begin, they will take a little walk together to their regular DK classroom like we do during Festival week.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to renovate our church. These improvements will be worth the temporary adjustment.

Questions? Feel free to reach out - we're here to help!

RUN/WALK FOR ST. JUDE'S CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL!

Attention all SPA SAINTS! Get ready to Run/Walk for St Jude Children’s Research Hospital this Wednesday, June 4, during school hours. This Wednesday also happens to be “Silly Socks Day” but our students are also welcome to wear comfortable “exercise clothing” that is appropriate for a Catholic school setting. They are also encouraged to create a t-shirt that boldly proclaims: SPA Loves St Jude’s! All of our students will receive a “cool treat” when they’re done…those slightly delayed popsicles!

REBUILDING MALIBU

As we continue to recover from the fires, please say prayers to the hundreds of businesses along PCH that have suffered from the Palisades fire. Let’s do whatever we can to help support the rebuilding of Malibu. There are beaches with sand and waters far from the fire debris that are safe to visit. A few of our SPA families have suffered significant business losses since the fires. The Malibu community is devastated and will be very appreciative of your continued support and prayers.

SPA DRAMA CLUB

Bravo! Bravo! We want to congratulate our wonderful SPA Drama Club actors. They worked hard to learn their lines and put their acting skills into action. Under the direction of Ms. Mizo and Mr. Alberti, the students were able to perform a variety of delightful scenes, two-partner scenes and several monologues. Once again, the students did a wonderful job of sharing their acting talents with the audience. They love what they spend so much time learning about and rehearsing for, and they never fail to deliver. Thank you to this special group of students for always putting a smile on our face. We look forward to enjoying whatever delightful productions next year will bring! That’s a wrap!

SPA SUN SAFETY

Now that spring is in the air and the days are getting warmer, we would like to remind all of our families about the importance of “sun safety.” Just as we have done in the past, students are strongly encouraged to wear hats when they are outside for PE, recess, and lunch. All caps/hats must be appropriate for a Catholic school setting. Please remember that these items may NOT be worn in the classroom. It is also recommended that sunscreen is used as well.

Students are also strongly encouraged to stay hydrated throughout the day. Please make certain that all reusable water bottles are labeled with the student’s name and classroom. It is also a good idea to remind your children to check the “lost and found” bins located by the gym doors for any water bottles that may have gone missing.

Thank you for your cooperation regarding these safety policies as we continue to move forward towards the summer days ahead!
