CMS Principals' Update: October 8, 2021

Conference Reminder
This is a reminder that the conferencing platform is currently live and will close on Sunday, October 10 at 6:00 pm.

We invite you to join us for Parent/Guardian/Teacher conferences on Tuesday, October 12 and Thursday, October 14. Conferences will be available in person and virtually.

  • Tuesday, October 12 from 7:30-9:00 am (virtual) and 5:00-8:00 pm (in person)
  • Thursday, October 14 from 7:30-9:00 am (virtual) and 5:00-8:00 pm (virtual)

Virtual conference sign up using the pickAtime online scheduler. When logging in, use your email and your student's birthday in the following format: M/D/YYYY. Example - 6/1/2010 or 11/25/2010. A confirmation email containing Zoom links will be sent by pickAtime 24 hours prior to your conference. The pickAtime platform will open up for scheduling on Monday, October 4 at 6:00 pm and will close Sunday, October 10 at 6:00 pm.

In person conferences will be arena style with an open house format. PickAtime will not be used for in person conference sign up. 7th and 8th grade teachers will be set up in the cafeteria and 800 hallway and 6th grade teachers will be in the gym. Signage will direct families to the correct locations. These conferences are available on a first come first serve basis.

To prepare for conferences, please join your student in reviewing what is in the portal and have your questions ready for teachers. Remember that each conference slot is 7 minutes for virtual and 5 minutes for in person and our teachers will be sticking tightly to these times. It is our hope that your student will also join the conferences.

Prior to conferences, you are also welcome to visit our CMS website to view videos created by each of our teachers. These videos showcase what students will be learning this year and can be accessed whenever it is convenient for you.
Campus Assessment Access
Your child recently completed a FastBridge benchmark assessment.  You can now access these results in the Campus Parent Portal under "More" > "Assessment Dashboard for Parents" (see included screenshot). Please contact your student’s teacher if you have questions about the results. 
School Supply Requests
Kindly consider donating classroom supplies. Use this Sign Up Genius link to donate. Supplies can be brought to school the week of October 11-15 or to in person conference night on October 12.
Parent Drop off and Before School Care
Please be reminded that CMS offers supervision at 9am each morning. Please do not drop your students off at CMS before 9am. For those who need to drop their student off before 9am, we have a Community Education program called CMS Mornings. We'd encourage you to consider this option.
PTO Information
Please Donate Toward the CMS Fall Conference Café
It is that time of year again to show our amazing CMS teachers and staff how much we appreciate them! We will be providing a dinner, snacks, and beverages during fall conferences, and we need your donations to make it happen!

Weekend Food for Kids
Families with children age birth-18 (or Eden Prairie students, including Tassel) are invited to pick up a weekly weekend food pack from Every Meal. Food packs include non-perishable meal ingredients or ready-to-eat food items. Food will be available Thursday evenings from 4-6 and Friday mornings from 8-10. Pick up outside door 4 of the historic gym off School Road (drive-up model). Please see the flyer for more information.
