TO MY READERS
Though my books nominally concern leadership and followership, their fundamental subject is the appropriate use of power and how to limit its abuses. In particular, my core theme has been the beneficial use of political power.
All leadership and followership depend on a degree of trust. Democracies require trust. There is often an element of hypocrisy in politics, but some acts more blatantly violate the principles of fairness than others. I believe this is the case for those Senators who refused a hearing for the President’s Supreme Court nomination in 2016 because it was a presidential election year, but are not holding themselves to that standard in 2020.
