Insights for Healthcare Leaders & Change Makers
Dear HCEG Colleagues and Friends:

As healthcare pandemic challenges continue to mount, along with serious and difficult social unrest, endless political debates, social isolation and more. I recently have found the chorus of “The Beat Goes On” passing through my mind - (Sonny & Cher’s lyrics seemed appropriate - I know... I just dated myself!)

But the coronavirus pandemic continues to challenge and change our world… dramatically and likely for some time to come.

As autumn rapidly approaches, the HCEG network has stepped back from the chaos and uncertainty while thinking about how priorities have changed and what new priorities lie ahead of us. No wonder, with all of the uncertainties, I’m humming “The Beat Goes On. Drums keeps pounding rhythm to the brain. La de da de de, la de da de da!”

This month and across October we are sharing what our board, members, technology partners and industry thought leaders have identified as links to information, blog posts, podcasts, webinars and other content we consider worthy of your attention.

Importantly, we are announcing the release of the COVID-19 Flash Report update to the 2020 Industry Pulse research survey HCEG has co-sponsored with Change Healthcare. This annual report - now in its 10th year and based on the annual list of HCEG Top 10 priorities - shares insight from 280+ respondents on have healthcare-focused organizations been impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.

Please continue to stay connected, engaged and be thinking about priorities going into 2021. The COVID-19 Flash Report identifies a number of new considerations. If you have any issues you think should be added to the 2021 HCEG Top 10 voting list, please email us at [email protected].

Be safe and stay well,

COVID-19 Flash Report Released!
Mid-year Survey Reveals Change in Leadership Priorities
The Industry Pulse COVID-19 Flash Report was released on Monday. This update to the Industry Pulse research survey released in February of this year reveals how COVID-19 has reshuffled healthcare executives’ priorities.

Some key findings include:
  • Consumer-centricity and digital health are now front and center.
  • COVID-19 is driving increased interest in payment transformation.
  • Respondents are bullish on increasing IT budgets to support re-prioritization.
  • Payers and providers believe new CMS and ONC rules will have a positive impact on preparedness for a future pandemic.

Blog Series: Physician Perspectives on COVID-19 Impact
The HealthCare Executive Group hosted an informal discussion with three physician executives on their observations, experiences, and insight about how COVID-19 has impacted healthcare and healthcare stakeholders.

The theme of the discussion was: “What’s changed, what’s remained the same, and what can we expect in the coming fall season?”

See the second post of a three-part series sharing highlights of that conversation. The first part can be accessed here. The final part will be shared next week and we're hosting a special interactive event on October 13th.
