Pro Action recently celebrated our 55th anniversary, and we would like to invite you to join us in also celebrating 55 years of the U.S. Department of Labor Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP).
Since the program's inception, the Center for Workforce Inclusion (formally Senior Services of America) has been there. In these last 5 decades, the program has proudly served over 500k older job seekers. Pro Action of Steuben & Yates, Inc. is part of the Nation's 2nd largest SCSEP grantee working with 65 local partners in 445 counties across 15 states providing training for low-income, unemployed people age 55 and older. Our SCSEP participants gain work experience in a variety of community service activities at local non-profit and public agencies, including schools, hospitals, day-care centers, and senior centers while earning wages to supplement their income. National Employ Older Workers Week!
Through the last full week in September, the Center for Workforce Inclusion and Pro Action’s SCSEP program would like to recognize the vital role of older workers in the workforce and increase awareness of this labor segment by developing innovative strategies and opportunities in our community Host Agencies. SCSEP at Pro Action is currently serving Allegany, Steuben, Chemung and Schuyler counties. Since its inception, SCSEP as a whole has helped over one million older Americans enter the workforce.
