The Pro Bono Project continues to provide legal information and advocacy to our community members, both virtually and in-person.
Our in-person presentations at the Elmwood Correctional Facility have resumed. We are expanding the reach of our program to incarcerated individuals dorm by dorm. We are also teaching multi-week workshops in both the Men's and Women's sections of the facility. Presentation topics include updates to criminal sentencing laws, child custody and visitation issues, parentage, child support, and domestic violence restraining orders as well as intimate partner violence dynamics. We are currently developing an estate planning workshop which will discuss wills, advance healthcare directives, and powers of attorney.
In addition to our 15 legal clinics offered each month, we added a new Small Claims legal clinic, as well as an additional community clinic hosted by the Shia Association of the Bay Area (SABA). We continue to offer information clinics at the Hall of Justice for both restrained and protected parties of criminal domestic violence matters. We have three separate clinics for domestic violence survivors, two of which are in partnership with local domestic violence agencies. We have an immigration clinic for domestic violence survivors as well as a "Wills, Trusts, Probate, and More" session. And, we continue to host virtual Lawyers in the Library clinics at the Santa Clara City and Martin Luther King libraries.
We thank you for your support.
Yours in Service,
The Pro Bono Project Team

I am a corporate law attorney and founder of Codex.Legal P.C. I volunteer for Pro Bono Project Silicon Valley’s Lawyers in the Library Program (LIL). Volunteering at LIL is a truly gratifying experience, both personally and professionally. It gives me an opportunity to serve my community and help bridge the gap in affordable legal services.
| |
|
I aim to provide LIL clients a clear understanding of their legal rights and options so they can make informed decisions.
The staff at PBP makes it incredibly easy to volunteer. PBP has an organized system of making appointments in advance and sending in the client list before the clinic begins. The PBP team is unfailingly joyful.
When not volunteering at Pro Bono Project, I practice corporate law. My practice includes, but is not limited to, advising small to mid-size emerging companies on contracts negotiations and management, technology licensing agreements, proof of concept, funding through Angel investors, seed funding, and corporate governance.

PBP is extremely grateful for Daniel’s continued service and dedication to the work for our Lawyers in the Library program. Daniel has covered weekly sessions since March 2021.

My name is Ana Blanco. I currently work at Pro Bono Project as a Legal Administrative Assistant. I assist the attorneys in scheduling appointments with clients. In some cases, I help translate for Spanish speakers. I also manage the front office, and I enjoy being a part of an organization like Pro Bono Project that provides great resources to those in need of legal help. I graduated from UC Santa Cruz with a B.A in Anthropology, and I’m currently in the transition of switching careers. | |
Despite Covid-19, Pro Bono Project of Silicon Valley remained committed to serving the community. On December 15, 2021, Pro Bono Project kicked off its first Brown Bag Luncheon to raise funds while informing volunteers, community partners, and donors of our continued operations during the pandemic. The event was done virtually, and it allowed participants to have fun by answering questions and receiving prizes for correct answers.
