ProAct Community Work Crews Return in Partnership With DARTS!

In November, the ProAct community work crew services made its return after being shuttered during the pandemic. Once again, ProAct has partnered with DARTS in their homemaking department with the goal of helping aging adults remain in their homes.

Each day the crew, alongside their supervisor Anne Stocker, travels across Dakota County to clean the homes of their clients.

We here at ProAct are thrilled to see this wonderful service making its triumphant return. However, please don't just take our word for it. Here is what one client in the Lakeville area had to say about the return of our community work crew services.

She was "just so happy to have Anne come out and help me today." She also added, "just how happy I am that DARTS is there for my type of situation when I need them, and I thank you so much!"

With the new year in full swing, it is a great pleasure to see this wonderful partnership begin again!

Feeling The Holiday Spirit!

December was a month full of holiday spirit and lots of fun across all our ProAct sites!

In Red Wing, the month was marked with holiday decorating, crafts, and giving holiday cheer. Participants took part in the community Christmas Project once again to sponsor a local family with gifts. There was lots of joy to go around from purchasing, wrapping, and delivering presents!

In Shakopee, a new tradition got its start with the first annual ornament exchange. Seeing all the smiling faces as participants chose the ornament they wanted was wonderful. In addition, a big thanks to Lowes for inviting a group to their workshop to create wood projects under the supervision of an employee.

In Eagan, there were dress-up days, feasts, and dancing! Participants had the chance to show off their best sweaters, whiteout attire, pajamas, and even Whoville costumes! To top it all off, the Winter Wonderland Dance was a big success.

Finally, Hudson participants got their wish to see some amazing shows including Disney's new movie Wish and the musical Cinderella at Sidekick Theatre. There was even a royal visit as a nursing student came dressed up with her Princess Kay of the Milky Way sash and crown.

Monthly, ProAct’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Committee focuses on educating staff, participants and stakeholders in areas of culture, diversity, and disability. The committee chooses one diversity related area and a disability as its educational focuses for the month. Bulletin boards, e-mails, class projects and other tools are used to educate staff and participants at each of our four locations.

The committee chose Holidays Around The World and International Day of Persons with Disabilities for the month of December.
