Wishing You a Wonderful Holiday Season

As I reflect on 2023 and the strides ProAct has made, I know the success and growth we saw this year would not have been possible without our amazing supporters, staff, participants, board of directors and community partners. Thank you!

Our 2023 journey saw the completion of the Leisure Center where participants who want a more “laid back” atmosphere can enjoy part or all of their day in a fun and relaxing space. Looking ahead to next year, we are excited to open a brand new Autism Center in January, where we will have specialized trained staff, furnishings, and activities to focus on the needs of those on the spectrum.

In all four of our locations, ProAct served over 700 adults and provided over 500,000 hours of service! What we do makes a difference in the lives of our community, friends, loved ones and neighbors.

Thank you for your support and may your holidays be filled with peace, good health and happiness.

With a thankful heart,

Judie Foster-Lupkin

President & CEO

Welcome to the New Leisure Center!

Our brand new Leisure Center in Eagan is officially open! With a special focus toward older adults with disabilities, the Leisure Center is a fantastic space for social events, workshop classes, crafts, and various other activities for participants.

The new center is already becoming a favorite for participants, but don't just take our word for it. Take a look at testimonials from participants and staff alike on why they love the Leisure Center!

Celebrating Continued Growth in Independent Living Services

ProAct’s Individualized Home Support Program (IHS) started in 2018 when we began providing services to one individual living in Dakota County. Since then, our IHS Program, which includes Semi-Independent Living Services, has expanded to Scott, Ramsey, Hennepin, and Goodhue counties, where we are currently providing services to over 40 individuals.

Services can be provided in the person’s own home, family’s home, or in the community. We now offer greater flexibility with scheduling as well, having recently added evening and weekend availability.

We are excited to see how far our program can grow and how many individuals we will be able to reach to assist them in fulfilling their independent living goals!

Supporting Dakota Woodlands

Eagan participants are giving back this holiday season!

Dakota Woodlands is the only shelter for families experiencing homelessness in Dakota County.

Dakota Woodlands hopes to brighten the holiday season by providing gifts and needed items for families staying in the shelter. Everyone had a great time supporting a wonderful organization this holiday season.

Thankful for All the Fun!

November was a wonderful month of giving thanks and bringing joy across all our ProAct sites!

In Red Wing, the month was jam-packed with excitement, including carousel rides at the Lark Toy Company, making cool bead corn cobs in arts & crafts, and getting ready for all the exercise classes we'll be having at our new gym.

In Shakopee, arts & crafts classes were filled with fantastic new turkeys and snowmen art, and participants showed off their moves during a showing of Taylor Swift's concert at the Shakopee movie theatre.

In Eagan, participants got a chance to have fun and give back while volunteering with Feed My Starving Children. In addition, the turkey art contest was a hit with many dazzling entries.

Finally, Hudson participants had a blast this month with a trip to Ridgedale Center to check out many cool murals and art structures. They also learned all about Native American heritage and made a fan favorite stop to enjoy tasty Frosties.

Monthly, ProAct’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Committee focuses on educating staff, participants and stakeholders in areas of culture, diversity, and disability. The committee chooses one diversity related area and a disability as its educational focuses for the month. Bulletin boards, e-mails, class projects and other tools are used to educate staff and participants at each of our four locations.

The committee chose Epilepsy and Global Diversity Awareness for the month of November.
