Gabriel Rodriguez: A Great ProTecian Gone Too Soon

by Department 50 Team

It is with a heavy heart that we share that a great ProTecian has passed away. Gabriel Rodriguez came to ProTec just under a year ago from Oregon. As a multi-trade technician, he was a great asset to our department and company. His knowledge and skill set for roofing repairs was of a level that was much needed, appreciated and utilized! He was a quiet man who showed up every day with a positive attitude, performed any task assigned to him, worked hard, and worked well with everyone! But more importantly, Gabriel was a great all around person! He was a devoted family man - beloved husband, father and grandfather. His absence in our department, company, and among his friends and family is felt and missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and we hope that they find comfort in happy memories of their loved one.

One of the greatest things about ProTec is how we look out for one another. In times like these, that sense of family means even more. We know many of you may want to offer support, and we’re currently in touch with his family to see if a GoFundMe or other form of assistance has been set up. If you feel moved to contribute, we’ll share those details as soon as we have them.

BUSINESS NEWS

Interview with Cory Neubauer

by Dave Rauch

I recently sat down with Cory Neubauer, Managing Partner of NEXTIER Insurance Services, to tackle one of the most pressing and controversial issues in the HOA world today—insurance. With skyrocketing premiums and shrinking coverage options, many HOA boards and community managers are struggling to navigate the current landscape.

Cory broke it all down, explaining the real factors driving insurance increases beyond what the media reports. He shed light on the California Fair Plan, the FHA insurance dilemma, and what the future holds for 2025. Plus, he shared practical advice on how HOAs can use preventive maintenance to impact insurance costs and what steps they can take to mitigate risk.

Safety First

by Tim Lampman

SAFE DAY COUNT: 8 days

March 2025 has been a strong month for safety, with only one injury requiring first aid—a significant improvement from previous months. Thank you all for your efforts in making safety a priority!

However, we’ve had a few minor accidents involving company vehicles. Thankfully, no one was hurt, but this is a reminder to stay vigilant on the road—keep a safe following distance, stay alert, and follow traffic laws.

Let’s keep this positive momentum going into spring. Thank you for all you do—stay safe and continue looking out for one another!

AWARDS & CELEBRATIONS

Best of ProTec

by Dave Rauch

Part of being a ProTecian means living by our core values: Safety First, All In, Learn & Grow, and Own It. Sheila Castellanos in Dept. 70 exemplified this when she made a mistake (as we all do) and took full responsibility with the client. Her honesty and accountability left such a positive impact that the client took the time to write in, expressing their appreciation. By owning up, moving forward, and making things right, Sheila reinforced both her own credibility and ProTec’s trustworthiness. Congratulations, Sheila—your integrity sets a great example for us all! 👏

We had a great time at the Orange County CACM Tradeshow last week. Our very own Paty Smith and Gina Roldan did an amazing job at setting up our booth for our clients. They ended up taking home the "Most Engaging" Award. Click here to see what all the commotion was about.
