Safety First
by Tim Lampman
Coming back from a holiday weekend can sometimes mean a rough short workweek, and this one was no exception. We had multiple injuries that could have been prevented by using proper techniques and tools, checking work areas for hazards, and staying aware of our surroundings.
Although July and August were milder than usual, the heat is coming for the rest of September and into early Fall. Hydration is critical for every ProTecian, especially given the physical demands of our work in hot or humid conditions. Staying properly hydrated helps prevent heat-related illnesses, improves performance, and reduces the risk of accidents.
Remember:
- Drink 16–24 oz of water before work.
- Drink 7–10 oz every 15–20 minutes during your shift.
- Continue hydrating with water or electrolyte drinks after work.
- Don’t wait until you’re thirsty—thirst is a sign you’re already dehydrated.
Thank you for all that you do. Stay SAFE, stay HYDRATED, and continue looking out for yourselves and your coworkers as we work toward our goal of 30 days safe.
