PROVINCIAL UPDATE
Seasonal Residents Process to Return to PEI begins June 1st.
Premier King announced that on June 1st, the process will begin for seasonal residents of PEI to be able to apply to be allowed to travel to their Island homes/cottages. There will be several detailed steps involved in the process and must have completed the pre-approved process, show documentation and meet the self-isolation requirements.

Prime Minister announces opening of program to protect jobs and help businesses
announced that application documents and updated criteria for Canada Emergency Commercial Rent Assistance (CECRA) for small businesses are now available, and that the program will be opened for applications beginning on May 25.

CECRA will provide important relief for small businesses experiencing financial hardship, and is another measure that helps businesses keep Canadians on the payroll. Applications will be accepted through the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation  website  beginning on May 25, and application documents can be accessed now.

OTHER ITEMS OF INTEREST
As you prepare to open your business - a few items to remember: (this is not a comprehensive, complete list)

  • Create your Operational Plan and have it on hand at your business so that you can present it to Public Health if they request it

  • Ensure that you are using approved cleaning products that meet the Public Health guidelines. More info can be found HERE

  • Provide directions to your customers (ie. arrows on floor, dots on floor indicating physical distancing space, posters on doors detailing cleaning/disinfection procedures & safety precautions).

  • Do your homework and be prepared
  • Have all your supplies

  • Communicate with your staff and educated them on all procedures

 Kelly Hughes, Senior Environmental Health Officer – Chief Public Health Office.  This event will be held via ZOOM tomorrow - Thursday, May 21 st  at 1:30 pm and will last approximately one hour . Those interested in attending need to pre-register at  THIS LINK  no later than Thursday morning at 10:00 am.
