The Shalom Project: A Transformative Gospel Reflection
in honor of Bishop David O'Connell
Join us for the “The Shalom Project” in honor of Bishop O’Connell. All are welcome to this online event beginning Tuesday, March 21 at 6:00pm. This will be the first in a series of peace building skills workshops coming this year, working in collaboration with our Diocesan Restorative Justice Directors and Santa Clara University.
We believe you will find it to be an experience of individual and community transformation. Join us in honoring Bishop O’Connell by learning this transformative process and utilizing it in his blessed memory.
Bishop O’Connell, may you rest now in the loving arms of Jesus, his devoted mother, and all the beloved that have gone before you. Until we meet again, may you continue to guide us as you faithfully have all these years.

Pope Francis' 10th Anniversary:
Pope brings Latin American Catholic Experience to the Universal Church
| |
When Pope Francis greeted the thousands of faithful gathered in a rain-soaked St. Peter's Square March 13, 2013, he quipped that his brother cardinals looked almost to "the ends of the earth" to find a new bishop of Rome.
The end of the world, in this case, was Buenos Aires, Argentina, where Pope Francis was born to Italian immigrants in 1936 and served as archbishop from 1998 until he became pope in 2013. He is the first pope born outside of Europe since the year 741 and the first from Latin America, where an estimated 40% of the world's Catholic population lives.
That distinction has molded Pope Francis' approach to governing the church over the first 10 years of his pontificate, forging pastoral priorities and doctrinal decision-making rooted in his identity as a servant of the people in Buenos Aires' "villas miserias," or shantytowns, first during a military dictatorship and then during a profound financial crisis.

The Catechetical Corner
I Thirst Fresno: Eucharistic Revival and Evangelization
My brother and sister catechists in Christ, as we continue our journey of reflection, prayer, and almsgiving during this time of Lent, I pray that we have been able to take some time out of our busy schedules to nourish our faith and encounter ever more the presence of Christ in our lives and ministries, especially with those we catechize and share the faith with. I know that there have been parishes that have been working tirelessly to provide events and moments of celebrating Eucharistic Revival along with the Lenten season, it is my hope that those events in which you hopefully participated or have been participating in have nurtured and supported your encounters with Christ during this particular liturgical season.
I wanted to share a reminder and of course extend an invitation to an event that will take place on Saturday March 18, 2023, “I Thirst – Fresno”. This event will be offered in English and Spanish at St. Charles Borromeo Parish Church, Visalia from 8AM - 5PM. For those that are certified catechists, this event will also qualify as re-certification hours.
We are also looking for VOLUNTEERS! Please view the attached document linked here for information on volunteer opportunities.
