OLM Festa Celebration
Our Lady of Miracles Catholic School, Gustine
| |
Students from Our Lady of Miracles School in Gustine participated in the OLM Festa Celebration!
Each year, many people gather in Gustine to show their devotion to the Blessed Mother.
Last week, students participated in the evening Novenas, marched in traditional costumes at the Saturday morning Bodo de Leite parade and handed out sweet bread and milk to parade watchers. On Sunday afternoon, they marched in the parade of Queens and carried Saints to the park. This tradition is one OLMCS students always take part in and we are proud of them for honoring Our Lady of Miracles!

Check out the handmade floral "carpets" that are laid out by volunteers very early Sunday morning. They are anticipating the arrival of Our Lady. The picture above is Our Lady of Miracles being carried in the parade. It is a high honor to be asked to carry her in the parade. | |

Movie Recommendation:
Mother Theresa and Me
In Theaters for One Night Only!
The inspirational film "Mother Theresa and Me" will hit theaters nationwide for ONE NIGHT ONLY on Thursday, October 5th, 2023!
In “Mother Teresa & Me,” we discover the saint through the eyes of Kavita, a young English woman who’s been abandoned by her boyfriend after he finds out that she is pregnant. Kavita then journeys to Calcutta to escape her pain and soon discovers that even holy people like Mother Teresa have to face life’s challenges and, in fact, struggle through years of spiritual crisis known as the “dark night of the soul.” Inspired by Mother Teresa’s example of perseverance and compassionate love, Kavita rediscovers hope and purpose. This rare, powerful and inspirational film shows how we can overcome our own troubles by helping lift the burdens of others.

The Catechetical Corner
Restarting Catechetical Programs
As catechists, whether you have already restarted your parish catechism programs or that start date is right around the corner, the start of any new program is filled with many things to keep us busy as we prepare ourselves. Whether it's learning new names or remembering the names of those that are returning, decorating our assigned room or space, studying the required textbooks, preparing lesson plans, and so on, we must keep in mind that one of the graces of any religious education and faith formation is the Word of God. A presence that is always present in any learning process especially as the new learning season begins as some of us will receive children and youth, and even adults, that will be taught through the Word of God for the first time.
Here are a few tips for starting out with the excitement and joy of the Word and keeping the Lord present in you and those you serve throughout your ministry, especially as a ministry leader.
