Praying for All Victims of Crime
Crime Survivors Ministry
In celebration of the Restorative Justice Month, the Crime Survivors Ministry in partnership with the Hikes with Mary Rosary Ministry (St. Paul Catholic Newman Center) prayed the rosary for the intentions of the victims and their families last Saturday, November 4, 2023.
The Virgin Mary is the mother of the Church and the mediatrix of all graces. In times of suffering and injustice, we turn to her in all stages and circumstances of our lives for help and intercession. Her maternal care and empathy is a source of comfort for victims and their families. We dedicate our prayers to all who were affected by the harm caused by violent crimes and for everyone who is involved in the healing process of the victims, offenders, and their families and friends.
This month of November, we focus our prayers in solidarity with justice, mercy, healing and restoration of a loving relationship with God, with self and with one another.

West Nile Virus in Fresno County
The Fresno County Department of Public Health (FCDPH) has confirmed its first human death caused by West Nile Virus (WNV). The FCDPH has reported ten (10) positive human cases of WNV this year.
To reduce the risk of being bitten by mosquitoes and contracting West Nile Virus, Fresno County residents are urged to take the following precautions:
- Apply insect repellents that contain DEET, picaridin, oil of lemon eucalyptus or IR 3535, especially at dawn and dusk when mosquitoes are most active.
- Make sure that doors and windows have tight-fitting screens to keep out mosquitoes and repair or replace screens that have holes or tears.
- Eliminate standing water and containers that can hold water from around the home.
