Bishop Brennan Joins Pope Francis in Consecrating Russia and Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary

This past Friday on the Feast of the Annunciation, Bishop Brennan held a special Mass at St. Anne's Chapel and joined Pope Francis in consecrating Russia and Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Pastoral Center Staff gathered for the Mass and joined Bishop Brennan for prayer.

Bishop had sent a memorandum to all Clergy, encouraging all parishes to participate in the renewed consecration.

As the faithful may remember, it was at Fatima that Our Lady spoke of a consecration of Russia to her Immaculate Heart.

You can find a prayer at the bottom of this newsletter that Bishop Brennan encourages all to say for the crisis in Ukraine.

Operation Cooperation

Understanding the Perspectives of Our

Prison Chaplains and Pastors

Bishop Brennan and the Office of Restorative Justice are conducting two meetings to promote cooperation between the chaplains of the fourteen prisons in our Diocese and the pastors of the parishes where the prisons are located. These meetings, called Operation Cooperation, will be held on two dates, April 1st at Sacred Heart parish in Bakersfield for the southern part of the Diocese and April 8th at the Diocesan offices for the northern part.

Our hope is to establish a better understanding of the challenges and needs of both our prison chaplains and pastors and find a common ground to meet them.

The Catechetical Corner

Caring for your Ministries and Caring for Yourself

The end of the catechetical school year brings with it many preparations in which our time will be consumed; preparing for the final class sessions that will take place, orienting the parents and godparents/sponsors of our students regarding the sacrament reception of their children, going over the final details of the special day itself that will soon be upon us. As we continue to prepare our students for the reception of the sacraments, please take the time to prepare yourself for the continued formation that hopefully awaits you or maybe even a simple retreat that will help you recharge.

Quick Catechesis

The Right Tools for the Right Retreat

As many parish catechetical ministry programs are reaching the conclusion of the school year one of the many things that come up are the need to provide a retreat. Even though retreats are still optional at this point for catechetical ministry programs many parishes have taken the time to offer a retreat through the services of their own parish or other organizations. For those parishes that do not have a lot of youth or children that will be receiving their sacraments or may have an extremely limited budget please bear in mind that there are options at your disposal if you wish to have a retreat. In preparing for one for this catechism school year or perhaps next school year please take the following things into consideration.
