Bishop Brennan Movie Recommendation

Father Stu, available in theaters for a limited time

Beginning April 13, 2022, for a limited time in theaters, Sony Picture’s Father Stu will be available for viewing.

The film which stars Mark Wahlberg, is about Fr. Stu’s dramatic conversion to Christ before becoming a priest. His courageous witness is an inspiration to many facing obstacles with grace, courage and humor.

Bishop Brennan would like to share this opportunity with you as he believes this might be a film that demonstrates that no one is beyond redemption and everyone deserves second chances. A suggested film for Clergy, Religious, Seminarians and the Faithful.

Viewers should be warned that the film contains objectionable language, violence and adult content. However it’s the filmmaker’s hope that the redemptive story of Fr. Stu’s conversion will invite viewers to faith and strengthen believers.

Fr. Mike Schmitz from Ascension Press Uses Modern Platform to Reach the Faithful

During the unrest of the pandemic Fr. Mike Schmitz decided he was going to bring a sense of peace to the Faithful by producing a podcast about the Bible. Little did he know that the podcast he was about to produce would compete with some of the most popular podcasts in history, such as the Joe Rogen Experience and Ben Shapiro's The Daily Wire, for the top spot on the charts.

Intentional Discipleship within Catechesis

Intentionality is a rare quality to find today in our world. Compared to our fast-paced society and instant gratification, relationships in discipleship can take much longer than some people might have the patience to sustain. However, the Bible tells us about the importance of intentional discipleship, and Jesus models this for us.

A Few Steps to Intentional Discipleship

Follow First: Before we become leaders in discipleship, we must learn to follow first. Of course, the greatest person we could follow is Jesus. It is not we who primarily do the work here, recognizing that it is not by our power that we guide and receive, but by that of the Holy Spirit.

Love others: If you want to intentionally disciple others and strive to discipleship, you've probably already realized that what fuels your ministry is love. You've felt that call deep within your heart to let people know how deep your relationship with Jesus can be, and you know that God has put that passion inside your heart to love others as He loves them.
