It is with great sadness that the Diocese of Fresno announces the death of Rev. Monsignor John Coelho-Harguindeguy on June 13, 2023 at the Nazareth House in Fresno, California.

Msgr. John was ordained April 29, 1967 by Most. Rev. Aloysius Willinger, D.D., Bishop of the Diocese of Monterey-Fresno. He attended seminary at St. John’s Seminary in Camarillo, California from 1961 to 1967.

117 First Holy Communions

St. Anthony of Padua Church, Fresno

St. Anthony of Padua Church in Fresno had 117 GIFT (Growing in Faith Together – CCD program) young people reach their First Holy Communion at one of ten weekend Masses during April and May 2023. These young people represent the future of the Catholic Church in Fresno. We pray they will continue to yearn to receive Our Lord in the Holy Eucharist often. We encourage the faithful to pray for these young people and their families as they continue their faith journey.

Bishop's Appreciation Mass and Luncheon for Parish Catechetical and Youth Leaders 2023

Thank you to those that participated in this year’s Mass and luncheon with our Bishop, Joseph V. Brennan. A huge thank you to Rev. Msgr. Raymond Dreiling for the use of his parish facilities and his wonderful staff Dee Shultz and Janet Prieto for their continued support of this event along with Efren Rubio for providing music during the Liturgy.

I also wanted to thank our co-sponsor for this year RCL Benziger and their sales representative Jennifer Vargas-Stolper for her resource presentation and the great speaker they provided for the formation session, Juan Suarez. And finally, a special thank you to DiCicco’s Italian Restaurant on 1914 W. Clinton for making special accommodations for us and catering our event with their delicious food. And of course, our Bishop Joe for sharing his valued time with our ministry leadership and his continued support and guidance as our Shepherd.
