Historic Mural Unveiling At St. Charles Borromeo Church, Visalia

The Handcrafted Mural Serves As The Focal Point Of The Church

Recently, Fr. Alex Chavez of Good Shepherd Parish in Visalia revealed St. Charles Borromeo's first installed art piece to his parish staff. The 38 foot tall mural represents the heavens and the Central Valley’s landscape and agriculture.

The handcrafted art piece has meaningful imagery such as the saints representing the Faithful's diverse cultures. Take a look!

Catechetical Ministries

The Catechetical Corner

An Evangelizing Catechesis

An evangelizing catechesis is much more than information; it is about transformation. The objective of an evangelizing catechesis is to transform minds and hearts, giving rise to a new way of life and being. As catechists we support this transformation into taking place, not by simply teaching a subject, but by facilitating encounters with Jesus Christ.

"Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations. Baptize them in the name of the Father and the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Show them to do everything I've sent you. And know that I am with you always, until the end of the world" (Matthew 28:19-20).

The early Church clearly understood that this missionary mandate of Jesus Christ gave the Church its mission. The Holy Spirit prompted those who knew Jesus to go out, to teach, to preach, to baptize, to make disciples; in short, spread the Good News of Salvation to the ends of the known world.
