Lay Formation Institute Commissioned Cohort of 2020
On Saturday, June 18 I had the opportunity to accompany some individuals of the 2020 commissioned cohort of the Lay Formation Institute in a three-session retreat along with the School of Ministry secretary Diana Rivas and our office director Rose Hernandez. This cohort was unique in that when they were commissioned in 2020, we were in the middle of the worst of the pandemic in which most, if not all, in-person ministries were closed along with in-person faith formation and gatherings.
We want to thank all the volunteers and support that was involved in supporting our office to make this retreat of rejuvenation a success in the parish of St. Joseph in Bakersfield. We would like to thank the Director of Spanish Religious Education Ana Valenzuela, who inspired and initiated this event with a great passion and devotion to the formation of her community and peers, Fr. Jesus Reynaga, for allowing us the use of the facilities of his parish, along with the other volunteers that supported us, and the great cooks that provided a delicious lunch, we thank you all kindly from the bottom of our hearts and all you did in contributing your time and talents.
