At the Annual Meeting of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem (EOHSJ) in Stockton, three Holy Spirit parishioners were invested as Knights and Dames of the Order by Lieutenancy Grand Prior and Bishop of Sacramento, the Most Reverend Sir Jaime Soto.
Bishop Myron Cotta of Stockton and the local Council hosted the EOHSJ Annual Convention. Bishop Cotta, Bishop Brennan, Msgr. Catechetical Corner
Celebrating Our Lady of Guadalupe at the Pastoral Center
Last Tuesday on the Feast Day of Our Lady of Guadalupe, our office was given permission to once again put together a small setting to celebrate our blessed mother. I wanted to have this experience available for staff of our Pastoral Center that might not be able to make it to their parish celebrations because of work or other responsibilities.
We gathered to sing the mañanitas and other songs in Spanish and English as participating Pastoral Center staff offered a rose as a gift to Our Lady of Guadalupe along with making a personal petition and receiving their own small gift as well. Afterwards we shared some hot chocolate, sweet bread and the traditional champurrado.
I pray that all the parishes across our Diocese enjoyed their celebrations of the Feast Day of Our Lady of Guadalupe and that the gatherings in prayer and community were festive and joyful as we continue to prepare during Advent for the coming celebration of the birth of our savior Jesus Christ. And of course, I hope that this feast day along with others will continue to be celebrated at our Pastoral Center through gatherings of prayer, worship and companionship as a Pastoral Center family.
