Live Stations of the Cross at St. Ann Church in Ridgecrest |
On Good Friday, the St. Ann Community in Ridgecrest put on a Live Stations of the Cross. Nineteen Confirmation students helped in the demonstration of this beautiful devotion. An inquirer in RCIA sent this message, which is a good reminder for some of us who may take this part of our Catholic faith for granted.
"I'm speechless, really...
A large crowd gathered as they (we) prepared to make the trek to Golgotha. I was there in the midst of that crowd. My emotions were just a little numb. This really happened.
Nailing him to the cross, the hammer making contact, very impactful. Never have I seen anything like this before. I've watched the passion years ago when it first came out but this...? I felt part of the program. Those directly involved, those that wore the costumes, very impressive.
Again, My thoughts also went to the thought that a large crowd of people followed. I am still taking it all in. Wow! Thank you, St Ann's for this 'the stations of the cross.'"

Crime Survivors Ministry
National Crime Victim's Rights Week
| |
We are inviting you to please come join us as one family in Christ to be there for our grieving brothers and sisters who are victims of crime.
Let us demonstrate our loving support by being present for them in the celebration of
'An Afternoon of Love and Prayers.' on April 29, 2023 at 4 pm at the St. Paul Catholic Newman Center in Fresno.
Together, with grace and mercy, let us show our commitment by walking alongside them with our hands clasped in prayer and our hearts sealed with love for the victims of crime.
Since 1981, the National Crime Victims' Rights Week (NCVRW) challenges the Nation to confront and remove obstructions to achieving justice for all victims of crime. This year, we are celebrating April 23-29, 2023 with the theme - Survivor Voices: Elevate, Engage. Effect Change.

The Catechetical Corner
The Bread of Life
As Sacrament preparation programs are coming to an end for the year and children and youth have or will receive First Eucharist, Confirmation, and in certain cases all three Sacraments of Initiation, I wanted to address the parents and godparents of children and youth that have already received the Body of Christ for the first time or will be receiving it soon, as this Sacrament preparation process holds a special place in my heart.
As we know, in the Sacrament of the Eucharist, we receive the bread and wine that by the power of the Holy Spirit has become the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ and it is central to Catholic life as we are called to celebrate it again and again.
I know that sometimes it can be easy to grow distracted by our material or physical needs, but we know that life is so much more. When we hear Jesus proclaim in the bible that he is the bread of life, we take hope in knowing that He gives us spiritual “food” and always will.
