Fundraiser to Support Able Advocates

Knights of Columbus John Cardinal Newman Council 9445 Presented a $450.00 check to Katrina Oh Schoenwald, Founder of Able Advocates. Able Advocates provide supplies and support for families with kids that have intellectual disabilities in the Central Valley. They help by providing Equipment at no cost, Family Support and Community Connections.

The John Cardinal Newman Council 9445 held a burrito breakfast fundraiser in October with a portion of the proceeds benefiting this wonderful organization. With the great support of the parishioners of St. Paul Catholic Newman Center, we were able to sell 127 burritos to support this great organization.

If you would like more information or a way to support this organization, follow this link ableadvocates.org and if you would like to help and support them, tell them you heard about them from the Knights of Columbus Council 9445.

You're Invited to Sister Flor's Farewell

Thank You Sister Flor for Your Presence at

St. Anthony of Padua, Fresno!

The parishioners of St. Anthony of Padua are saying farewell to Sister Flor on Sunday, January 8th with a reception in our Conference Room and outdoor Pavilion after the 8:00 a.m.; 9:30 a.m.; and 11:00 a.m. Masses. Baskets will be available for Farewell Cards. Everyone is welcome as Sister Flor has touched so many lives beyond St. Anthony of Padua.

Sister has served the parish of St. Anthony of Padua since 1999. With her knack for floral design and decor, she magically transforms our Church every week and for every annual Catholic feast to make it look even more magnificent. Whether it is Corpus Christi, Lent, Easter, or Christmas, Sister Flor makes our church look absolutely beautiful.

Sister Flor is the little Angel who started our senior ministry, the Silver Angels. Many Boutiques and craft projects later, we can say we are all truly blessed by her presence.

Sister is a shining example for all of us of how one person’s time and talent given freely to our parish can benefit the entire community. We love you and will miss you, Sister Flor!

Your Goals for the New Year

Many see a new year as a kind of reset. On January 1, some of us wake up to a new calendar year, full of promise, hope, and the unknown and even though some things may be out of our control, how we deal with whatever life gives us is well under our control. The ending of a year can give us an opportunity to review our own actions and achievements, our successes, and errors, over the last twelve months.

But the reality is that there are some who are afraid to face taking stock of their own lives for fear of being discouraged or being overwhelmed by their mistakes and falling into pessimism. It is important to have the courage to clarify our actions to know ourselves better. In addition, defining what our qualities and virtues are and what our weaknesses might be allows us to focus on what truly needs attending to in our own personal lives of which goal setting and recognizing our objectives to obtain them is facilitated for the coming year or any occasion. To do this, hope and optimism must be preserved. We all have flaws – and some obvious ones – but the fundamental task is to overcome them.
